With I Hear Your Voice getting a two-episode extension (for the sake of its rabid fans I sure hope this isn’t a bad bad decision by the network to milk ratings for the sake of narrative flow and become a Protect the Boss part-deux), The Master’s Sun gets an extra week to do its thang before premiering in the second … Continue reading →
Look carefully. If there was ever one reason for me to stick with the duller than beans Goddess of Fire Jeongi, this gorgeous young man is it. Despite being optimistic that GoF would be at least decent, so far the Moon Geun Young sageuk about the life of a famed Joseon potter is about as interesting as watching paint dry. … Continue reading →
Another Friday, another lovely and moody episode of Monstar. I’m going to miss this sweet and full of heart drama when it ends in three weeks, but am ever so grateful that a niche music cable network decided to try something different for a change. This drama was made to showcase music (and sell it), but it doesn’t sacrifice writing … Continue reading →
This might just be one of the best photo shoots I’ve ever seen from Hyun Bin, absolutely devastating in capturing his mult-faceted gorgeousness without any accoutrements or edginess required. Just Binnie and a camera lounging around a beautifully open and well-lit loft. It’s been 6-months since he was discharged from the military after serving 17 months as a marine and … Continue reading →
It’s not everyday that a titan of an industry is calling it quits, either there will be a seismic shift in the framework or else the genre will die a quick death soon. The godmother of the Taiwan idol drama industry Angie Tsai has said that the upcoming idol drama for FTV called Love Prescription will be the last idol … Continue reading →
There is nothing like a sitcom to scoop out two rising young stars to deposit them in front of the domestic Korean audience for four days a week going through a more dramatized version of mundane real life. Sixteen year old Yeo Jin Gu has been a child actor for what feels like forever. Seriously, I remember seeing him almost a … Continue reading →
SBS can breath a sigh of relief with a big hit (in this day and age) on its hands as the Wed-Thurs drama I Hear Your Voice raced past 20% in ratings nationally this week. With it comes confirmation that the network is extending the drama 2-episodes to end at 18 now. Apparently a leaked synopsis for episodes 10-16 went viral … Continue reading →
My Monstar babies! But my Monstar babies without my Star Chan! It’s like all the kids are home for the holidays minus the baby of the family, I’m happy but it just feels incomplete. Folks have been asking how the ratings for cable channel Mnet’s first drama the music youth series Monstar have been faring. It’s been doing gangbuster ratings … Continue reading →
I never woulda thunk it but the two I-see-dead-people dramas about to premiere on the same week are both garnering more and more of my interest. The Master’s Sun is a prime time SBS drama, whereas Who Are You airs on cable network tvN and will likely garner maybe a fifth of the ratings as the former. Quality-wise its all … Continue reading →
What is this scary ass shit?!? I did NOT sign up for this. I was just getting a bit giggly over the first stills of the two leads of The Master’s Sun having a first meeting that is rather out of the ordinary even as drama clichés goes. Gong Hyo Jin is wandering around dazed and confused at night due … Continue reading →
Look who’s back! Though with the amount of publicity he’s garnered even while he was away, I honestly never felt like Hallyu super-star Rain was in the army for the last 20 months. Today was the official discharge for Corporal Jung Ji Hoon (aka Rain) and the man was all business even as he finally got to return to civilian … Continue reading →
Finally! This is the first set of official stills from the upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs horror romance The Master’s Sun that really pique my interest beyond being curious about the drama from the cast and writers. This past week has seen stills of So Ji Sub alone in a rainy taxi, Gong Hyo Jin attempting to kiss her dream man and … Continue reading →
Fashion is like the sinkhole of K-dramas. I seriously cannot think of a single K-drama that centered around the fashion world or even tangentially related to fashion where it wasn’t either a hot mess of epic proportions (Fashion King, Cinderella Man) or just plan bad (Cheongdamdong Alice, Style). That seems so counterintuitive to me. Fashion seems perfect for a K-drama … Continue reading →
