Is anyone still watching All About My Love? I’ve been focusing on the low-ratings of Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love on Mon-Tues, but its sister drama from the same network SBS is actually getting slaughtered even more on Wed-Thurs. I wrote a first impressions review of AAML that eviscerated it for being over-the-top (in a non-funny and really annoying … Continue reading →
It can either be a positive or negative following along with a live-filmed drama, since behind-the-scenes stuff can be distracting or entertaining depending on the in-and-outs of the production. I bet you donuts to dollars SETTV is all over the map with respect to King Flower. It knows about the overwhelming fan preference for Terry, so it’s working overtime to … Continue reading →
There have been some big big name Korean entertainment dating reveals this past twelve months, and today we add another newly minted power couple to the mix. Jo In Sung, fresh off his well-received turn as a fake brother con artist in That Winter, the Wind Blows, is dating actress Kim Min Hee. Say what? If anyone claims to have … Continue reading →
Holy cow bells was this an awesome episode of Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love. I got shivers of the good kind from all angles – the budding romance and the intensifying political and power plays all around. There are no wasted characters or confusing motivations here and every little detail adds to the rich lustre of the narrative world … Continue reading →
I’ve discovered Gu Family Book is great for bedtime time watching while catching up on emails and maybe with the news in the background. It’s still choppy and written with the finesse of a troll threading a needle, but without any reason to delve any deeper it works as an inoffensive way to pass the time. I also watch because … Continue reading →
For every high-profile dating surprise (see Kim Tae Hee and Rain), there are many more low-profile K-ent romances that probably run a greater chance of succeeding in the long run. Of the group of 90s leading men, there are actually quite a few that still aren’t married yet but Han Jae Seok is just resigning his membership in that club. … Continue reading →
I’ve noticed that a bunch of Naughties (Nice Guy fans) are on the Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love ship with me. Welcome back everyone! I’m pretty sure all the Hearties (The King 2 Hearts fans) are over at the Gu Family Book ship enjoying Lee Seung Gi, and I’m sad that drama totally doesn’t work for me. But for … Continue reading →
As word of mouth spreads about Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love being unexpectedly solid and addicting, ratings in Korea continues to decline at a rate that is disheartening because it brings the specter of re-writes, or god forbid, shortening the drama’s run. It’s way too early to go there but it’s safe to say this drama isn’t likely to … Continue reading →
Li Yi Feng is one of my biggest C-drama biases and I’ve actually been keeping track of his career and dramas since he won my heart forever more in Sunny Happiness. He’s absolutely adorable and a really promising young actor. He just turned 26 years old this week and I actually did an about take realizing how much he’s matured … Continue reading →
What power does Yoon Eun Hye have that she makes orange lipstick look good? I’m not asking this rhetorically, because there is no conceivable way the color orange on naturally pinkish lips ought to look good. Especially not on Asian skin with a faint yellow undertone. No, I’m not saying this from personally experience. I hate the color orange (despite … Continue reading →
I can’t believe tomorrow is a new episode of Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love! I had a killer busy week so suddenly finding myself facing Monday is both depressing for the work but exciting for more drama goodness. I’m not yet so rabid about JOJ that I was desperately craving the preview for episode 5, but it was odd … Continue reading →
With this restrained yet tour de force performance by Chris Wu in the silliest of all silly TW-dramas, he’s officially in my top 3 TW-actors list. It was always just two guys there for the longest time (Zai Zai and Roy Qiu), but now Chris has earned his way into my affection forever. I will watch him read a phone … Continue reading →
Jung Kyung Ho has been out of the army for awhile now and he hasn’t exactly been laying low. He did the Ha Jung Woo directed movie Roller Coaster (set for a Summer release) but we’ll get to see him back onscreen earlier than that with a pretty interesting upcoming drama. He’s chosen to headline jTBC‘s upcoming cops-and-bad-guys thriller drama … Continue reading →
