The first half of episode 16 of King Flower was so good I was crying and smiling simultaneously. I would have recapped this sucker already if I didn’t have girlfriends in town to entertain. This episode was one successive revelation after another and everything was fantastically done. Terry came clean with President Du, Qin Mo made his usual Dr. Crazy … Continue reading →
Famed Japanese modern female photographer and director Ninagawa Mika is collaborating with Vogue Taiwan for all of 2013, producing one photo spread a month titled “12 Women”. I enjoy Ninagawa Mika’s works, which have a distinctive quality of being extremely colorful and saturated, with an emphasis on goldfish and flowers. She’s a longtime contributor to Vogue Taiwan, having once done … Continue reading →
I’m totally watching Saving General Yang for my Zai Zai, but lord knows I have to go in with an iron stomach. The well-known Song dynasty folk tale about the patriotic Yang family who had seven strapping warrior sons who went to battle and only one came home is a perpetual cinematic favorite for how it deals with filial piety … Continue reading →
If you check out the tags at the Playground, it’s pretty clear that I must love Jang Geun Seok a lot otherwise I wouldn’t have written so much about him since I started blogging. I write about dramas for the most part and he’s really done only one drama in the last 3 years (Love Rain, which I hated), so … Continue reading →
It would have been nice for Kim Ji Hoon to give a heads up before he popped up on the Pacific Coast of the US for what appears to be a relaxing vacation. For the last two weeks his twitter page have lit up with a photo bomb showing him all over San Francisco and Nevada. The first thing I … Continue reading →
I’ve had these pictures from the 2013 Spring/Summer collection photoshoot for Korean apparel brand Chris. Christy (a total name ripoff of Victor/Victoria if I ever saw one) for awhile now waiting for the right time to post. Now appears to be the right time because I’m annoyed and need to set some fangirls straight. I initially was posting this to … Continue reading →
The drama gods giveth and the drama gods taketh away, so is the revolving door of K-drama casting that even when the role is confirmed it can still change. Last week Jung Yong Hwa confirmed he was in the upcoming Kim Eun Sook-penned high school drama Heirs. This week he officially is back out after turning down the role over … Continue reading →
Nearly all TW-dramas make me less invested as it goes on. I can name so many that started off good or great only to peter out by the end, making me care less about the dragged out process of what is essentially courtship leading to marriage between two people. But King Flower is a rarity in that I’ve gotten more … Continue reading →
Where is Chi Soo orabeoni? As Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love has captured my heart and interest, watching it without the full main cast introduced feels like eating a meal where one critical dish is missing. Reading the synopsis its clear that Jae Hee’s character as the second male lead (even moreso that Lee Sang Yeob’s good natured Prince … Continue reading →
When new broke a few weeks ago that Gong Hyo Jin and So Ji Sub were offered the leading roles in the Hong Sisters upcoming drama (of the Big, You’re Beautiful, Best Love, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho fame, NOT the Hong Sisters of The King 2 Hearts and Beethoven Virus fame), there was a collective jaw drop all around. I … Continue reading →
Oh mommy what the heck is going on in the casting roulette that is K-dramas? It’s been a busy few weeks with casting rumors and confirmation left and right with so many upcoming K-dramas I’m starting to lose track. One drama I’m never losing track of is Moon Geun Young’s sageuk Goddess of Fire Jeongi, because its my Geun Young … Continue reading →
If Terry and Da Hua are telling each other “fighting” in episode 15 of the increasingly bipolar but still totally addicting King Flower, then who am I to refuse to believe. I believe with my whole heart that SETTV will grow brains, heart, and a pair of balls and steer a drama that has taken on a life of its … Continue reading →
Alert, alert, K-drama casting change up alert! This is getting so weird I don’t even know where to start. Initially SBS wanted to put teen phenom actor Yeo Jin Gu‘s first headlining drama Can We Love with Yoon Sang Hyun playing the second male lead on its line up. Then it pulled out, probably because the story called for him … Continue reading →
