Korea has been in the throes of older woman-younger man drama pairings for years so I’m pretty inured to it all. Unless its totally incongruous to me, for the most part if the storyline and the chemistry sells it then I’m game. Kim Tae Hee is a heck of a lot older than her co-star Yoo Ah In in their upcoming … Continue reading →
Well, well, well, look at who is returning to our embrace in less than three days? Yes, ladies (and gentlemen), the perfect multi-talented Kim Jae Wook has quietly and ably served his two years of mandatory military service and is thisclose to earning his discharge papers. He was interviewed by the military television program to discuss his experience and feelings … Continue reading →
Neither Jung Ryeo Won nor Kim Ha Neul are K-actresses I have to watch no matter what the project is, nor do they annoy me to the extent I avoid their works. I best describe my feelings towards them as per-project-basis and it waxes and wanes depends on what it is. Jung Ryeo Won has been on the up-and-up with … Continue reading →
You know Spring has definitely arrived when the Flower Boys come out to play. Korea has been in the throes of flower boy fever for years now, a phenomenon that arrived with a giant splash with the Korean F4 in Boys Before Flowers, and has never ceased to grace the screens in drama after drama since then. Even when an … Continue reading →
I love discussing casting rumors because its such a fun game of “what if”, and I try not to get too invested in a potential pairing that if it ends up being a pipe dream its no big deal. Fresh off her well-received turn as introvert Go Dok Mi in cable network tvN‘s Flower Boy Next Door, a youth drama … Continue reading →
Does this drama seriously want to fry my brain? Because why else would SETTV drop the latest batch of official stills to dangle a carrot before me, but also causing me considerable heartburn. In episode 12 of King Flower, Terry and Da Hua end up taking wedding photos at the request of Liang Yen’s dad so that he can satisfy … Continue reading →
The breakup of Roy Qiu and Tang Yan, from a relationship that neither ever admitted while they were dating, is turning decidedly ugly with the media fanning the flames. Tang Yan made a few public appearances since the breakup and the media was quick to note that she looked wan and even burst into tears when she saw an old … Continue reading →
The recent uber-tender display of affection and 16-year friendship between Zhao Wei–Huang Xiaoming is still the talk of the town in C-entertainment. I’m sure women everywhere that heard this story, be it a mega movie star down to an old grandma somewhere, wishes we had a BFF like the way Huang Xiaoming adores and worships Zhao Wei. The man rushes … Continue reading →
This week’s episode comes with the question from the official drama website – “How will Da Hua, Terry, and Guan Jun’s relationship develop, and will Jin Mom find out the truth about Da Hua’s identity?” I then read the written preview for episode 12 of King Flower, which comes with four pretty new pictures that shows Terry and Da Hua … Continue reading →
OMG, I want, I want, I WANT!!! I heard rumors about an upcoming J-dorama rom-com a few weeks ago but nothing confirmed and then sorta forgot about it until it snuck up on me. Spring 2013 will be having a love triangle rom-com from the land that frankly has mostly forgotten about that genre. Last Cinderella starring Shinohara Ryoko, Miura … Continue reading →
As March wraps up, supposedly the police of the Western Police Station in Seoul will be concluding their investigation into the Park Shi Hoo rape allegations and transferring the case to the prosecutor’s office who will make the determination whether to file charges. This isn’t an insular process, the prosecutors are likely kept abreast of the progress of the investigation … Continue reading →
I know how preposterous King Flower is, and honestly its silliness is a part of the charm. But the main reason I love it is how much this drama has stakes for me, real emotional stakes that most TW-dramas can’t figure out lately. Miss Rose is a shining example of having no viable stakes and then forcing stupid ones down … Continue reading →
Let me start off by getting the pink elephant in the room out of the way – I do not get Lee Hong Ki‘s hair. At all. No clue what the hell happened to him (zapped by lightning? got styling tips from No Min Woo circa the Full House 2 days?) or why he thought to leave the house looking … Continue reading →
