I wrote my first impressions of Missing You after one episode, and I have the same sentiments even after watching the second episode with only one additional thought. I have a feeling I’m going to be gaga crazy about Yoo Seung Ho’s second male lead character Kang Hyun Joon. This is not because I love Yoo Seung Ho, but stems … Continue reading →
We’re T-minus 1 day from episode 19 of Nice Guy, and mark my words this penultimate episode won’t reveal how this drama will end. It’ll probably end with some hair-pulling tension-filled moment leaving a collection scream of satisfied frustration from NG fans the world over. This drama has indeed been an experience where every unexpected twist and turn has left … Continue reading →
Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby present you with the worst haircut in 2013. Yes, I can already award the prize because ain’t nothing going to top this sucker next year (by the way, Noh Min Woo won this award in 2012 for his style or lack thereof in Full House 2). The upcoming big-budget thriller K-drama IRIS 2 quietly commenced … Continue reading →
Whether we like it or not, whether we’re ready or not, Nice Guy is ending this week. Are you ready? I’m ready, with tissues and medication by my side. Whatever happens in the end, I know it won’t be a surprise or a twist ending for the sake of yanking the rug out from under us. At this point everyone … Continue reading →
Director Lai wasn’t joking when, after hitting ratings gold with his craptastic drama adaptation of the wuxia novel The Magic Blade, he announced that he was setting his sights even higher and remaking Louis Cha‘s masterpiece Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils. Apparently the ninja assassins I sent to kidnap him and brainwash this idea out of his head didn’t work, as the … Continue reading →
I’ll make a prediction now – Drama Go Go Go (姐姐立正向前走) either will become the best C-drama rom-com of 2012 or will have a flaming second half melt down. Either way, I’ve checked out the first four episodes of this 2-episode a weekend drama and I am completely and utterly in love. DGGG is even better than even the fantastic … Continue reading →
Despite being rabidly obsessed with Rich Man, Poor Woman during the Summer J-dorama season, I knew even then that it was a fluke and likely wouldn’t continue once the Fall crop of new doramas started. Right now I’m casually watching Priceless for KimuTaku and MONSTERS for Yamapi, but storywise nothing captures my heart like RMPW did. Since filming wrapped, Oguri Shun … Continue reading →
Episode 16 of Miss Rose was all sorts of wonderful, and the preview for episode 17 looks equally as amazing. We’re getting a public declaration of love! Woo hoo, who knew Mr. M&A genius who never expressed any interest in the romantic side of things could turn out to be so ridiculously romantic when he met the right girl. Sorry … Continue reading →
I was mostly certain that the unconfirmed spoilers for Nice Guy that I posted yesterday were likely not true. It would be a nice enough and have symmetry with the overall narrative construct laid down by Lee Kyung Hee, but ultimately I have this feeling the drama is headed in another direction. Call it my pessimistic side rearing its cautious … Continue reading →
Woo hoo! Another big-budget cops-and-robbers K-movie is on the horizon, and it stars no less than my I Lub You playing the bad guy for once. I could not be more excited to finally see him unleash his maniacal badassery all over the big screen. Filming has commenced for the movie Stakeout (also called Surveillance or Lookout) starring Jung Woo … Continue reading →
Hot off his directorial success with In Time With You, nabbing himself a well-deserved Best Director prize at last month’s Golden Bell Awards in Taipei, Director Winnie (Qu You Ning) actually spent this past summer helming a very talented cast of young actors in a hotly anticipated C-drama adapted from a popular modern C-novel by best-selling writer Guo Jing Ming. The … Continue reading →
We’re three weeks away from the premiere of Cheongdamdong Alice with Moon Geun Young, Park Shi Hoo, So Yi Hyun, and Kim Ji Seok. The promotional materials have been few and far between but today brings us the first glimpse of the drama in action. A short 15-second teaser was shown after Five Fingers on SBS, and I’m sure it was a dramatic tonal shift for folks … Continue reading →
Okay everyone, change into your Big Girl/Boy Pants, because this one needs a lot of fortitude to read. Purported spoilers for episode 19 and 20 of Nice Guy have come out on DC and I’ve translated them. I emphasize again that these are unconfirmed spoilers and not attached to either a long or short preview released by KBS. It sounds … Continue reading →
