I felt like episode 19 of Nice Guy was intended as a prelude to the ending so I didn’t want to judge it on it on its standalone merits. Its slow burn felt like Lee Kyung Hee was getting ready to do something incredible to behold for her final salvo. Death, more amnesia, swirling camera slo-mo shots of reunion and … Continue reading →
I can never resist a handsome man in uniform, and Hyun Bin just about short circuited my brain the moment I laid eyes on the latest pictures of him wearing his formal marine dress attire while hosting a military event. I can’t believe he’ll be back from the military in three weeks since I still vividly recall the crying and … Continue reading →
Getting addicted to a drama feels rather like losing track of time. I look back and we’re almost at Winter, when last I checked it was late Summer when Nice Guy started airing. Yes, real life in general has been meaningful but the beats pass much too quickly when one has got a drama on the brain. I’m actually ready … Continue reading →
It’s no secret that I was underwhelmed by the first two episodes of Missing You, a melodrama fairly dripping with an excess of pathos and bathed in the ardent sheen of young love. After mentioning how Yeo Jin Gu was surprisingly bland in episode 1, he stepped up his game in episode 2 and together with his co-star Kim So … Continue reading →
The drama gods love toying with me. When I was recapping the brilliant The King 2 Hearts, I had to fly to NYC the day the final episode aired. But I still delivered a recap (not sure how, brain fuzzy). This time I’m flying to DC for work during tomorrow’s final episode of Nice Guy. Can I still find time … Continue reading →
Jaw. Drop. Holy jebesus is that girl stunning beyond compare. Ishihara Satomi spent the Summer romancing Oguri Shun onscreen in Rich Man, Poor Woman, and since wrapping the drama she has been plenty busy as her career continues to churn forward with more projects. She walked the green carpet of the 25th Tokyo International Film Festival with the cast of … Continue reading →
When Nice Guy started the cast and crew celebrated Song Joong Ki‘s birthday. That was two months ago. Now that Nice Guy is ending, its time for leading lady Moon Chae Won to blow out the candles on her own birthday cake. The cake given to her from her fanclub had an adorable Eun Gi fondant figure on top and … Continue reading →
I wrote my first impressions of Missing You after one episode, and I have the same sentiments even after watching the second episode with only one additional thought. I have a feeling I’m going to be gaga crazy about Yoo Seung Ho’s second male lead character Kang Hyun Joon. This is not because I love Yoo Seung Ho, but stems … Continue reading →
We’re T-minus 1 day from episode 19 of Nice Guy, and mark my words this penultimate episode won’t reveal how this drama will end. It’ll probably end with some hair-pulling tension-filled moment leaving a collection scream of satisfied frustration from NG fans the world over. This drama has indeed been an experience where every unexpected twist and turn has left … Continue reading →
Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby present you with the worst haircut in 2013. Yes, I can already award the prize because ain’t nothing going to top this sucker next year (by the way, Noh Min Woo won this award in 2012 for his style or lack thereof in Full House 2). The upcoming big-budget thriller K-drama IRIS 2 quietly commenced … Continue reading →
Whether we like it or not, whether we’re ready or not, Nice Guy is ending this week. Are you ready? I’m ready, with tissues and medication by my side. Whatever happens in the end, I know it won’t be a surprise or a twist ending for the sake of yanking the rug out from under us. At this point everyone … Continue reading →
Director Lai wasn’t joking when, after hitting ratings gold with his craptastic drama adaptation of the wuxia novel The Magic Blade, he announced that he was setting his sights even higher and remaking Louis Cha‘s masterpiece Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils. Apparently the ninja assassins I sent to kidnap him and brainwash this idea out of his head didn’t work, as the … Continue reading →
I’ll make a prediction now – Drama Go Go Go (姐姐立正向前走) either will become the best C-drama rom-com of 2012 or will have a flaming second half melt down. Either way, I’ve checked out the first four episodes of this 2-episode a weekend drama and I am completely and utterly in love. DGGG is even better than even the fantastic … Continue reading →
