Oh boy, I have to confess that had Protect the Boss not been so unexpectedly awesome, I was actually all prepared to recap Can’t Lose. But now I haven’t the time, though I’m definitely still going to watch it because the first trailer is out and it looks cute. CL is going to have a steep uphill climb when it … Continue reading →
The more dramas one has watched, the less one is likely to be impressed with something just okay, and the more one is likely to see the cracks on the surface rather than gloss over them. I try to keep a comfortable balance between casting a critical eye towards everything I watch (the brain, is good, use it) and yet … Continue reading →
The written preview for episode 11 of Spy Myung Wol definitively answers the question about whether we are getting some actual forward movement from the OTP, as opposed to the one step forward two steps back we’ve been subjected to for pretty much the entire run of the drama so far. Part of me actually thinks the drama should just … Continue reading →
If anyone thought that I would not write about Jang Geun Seok returning to drama land, and in a Yoon Seok Ho drama no less, then you clearly don’t know the hold this boy has over me. It’s not that I find him cute, it’s that I find him cute, think he has a charming real life personality, and most … Continue reading →
Ever since I started recapping Protect the Boss, I noticed that the drama is so brilliant it’s roping in viewers by its excellent storytelling and spot on acting by the two leads Ji Sung and Choi Kang Hee, but almost everyone professes not to be familiar with either actors or their previous works. Let’s start with a fun fact about … Continue reading →
Have you heard murmurings here and there about Protect the Boss and how awesome it is right off the bat? I think it’s safe to announce now that this drama rocks so hard, it can put on its own concert at Madison Square Garden and I guarantee it’ll sell out. What are you waiting for? Get. On. This. Ride. Now. … Continue reading →
It’s not often you see a photoshoot where the actress is not only gorgeous in it, but the theme actually reflects something about who the actress is. Park Jin Hee, currently filming the movie Grape Candy, recently did a photo shoot for Allure Korea where her love of environmental causes was integrated into the shoot in a front and center … Continue reading →
This episode was like the calm before the storm. Taiwanese dramas are predictable in that it deals with each plot development almost exclusively rather than simultaneously juggling multiple threads. The issues may be raised here and there, but the drama likes to tackle each one at a time. Last episode put an end to the market place takeover kerfluffle, resolving … Continue reading →
I’m stunned. While Han Ji Min being confirmed as the leading lady opposite Jung Woo Sung for Noh Hee Kyung’s Padam Padam: The Sound of His and Her Heartbeat was pretty much a done deal and par for the course, the other casting knocked the wind out of me. Kim Bum has also just joined the drama, and I’m hoping he plays Jung … Continue reading →
All good things must come to an end, and with that said, next week comes the grand finale of Drunken to Love You which means Office Girls (小資女孩向前衝) premieres in two weeks. This drama flew completely under my radar, mostly because the only actor in the cast I’m a fan of did all C-dramas for the last two years so I wasn’t … Continue reading →
So I guess Spy Myung Wol is pretty much chucking every extraneous plot thread it set up in the first few episodes to focus solely on Myung Wol and Kang Woo. That might be a smart move, but I was actually curious about the search for the Goblin and the Four Books conspiracy, and the funny General back in North Korea. … Continue reading →
My pretty Playful Kiss babies Jung So Min and Kim Hyun Joong were reunited earlier this month for a fan meeting in Tokyo, and Hyun Joong also followed that up with some performances for his new mini-album. It’s almost the one-year anniversary of PK’s premiere, which also reminds me that I’ve been recapping dramas for an entire year. How time … Continue reading →
As Drunken to Love You winds to a close, I’ve discovered what makes this drama refreshing and easy-to-watch is that it’s very straightforward. The characters don’t go in circles rehashing the same issues over and over again, and plot points are always dealt with quickly and sanely. Even if the plot is oftentimes the silly stuff we see in many … Continue reading →
