Things on the set of Spy Myung Wol have just gone from horrific to never-before-seen-nuclear-bomb level bad. As of midnight August 15th, lead actress Han Ye Seul has left South Korea and gone back to LA. Really, Leslie? That bad? Lee-Kim Productions (the company producing SMW, whereas KBS is the station that bought this drama and is airing it) has … Continue reading →
The finale of Drunken to Love You marks the completion of the first TW-drama I watched and recapped in tandem with the drama’s broadcasting run, which spanned four long months. At times exhausting, the wait between weeks, at times plodding, when the story didn’t progress as much, ultimately the drama validated my decision to recap it with a fitting conclusion … Continue reading →
I already posted about the recently made public behind-the-scenes conflict between the production of Spy Myung Wol with Han Ye Seol and her agency Sidus HQ here, so I won’t repeat any already stated facts. The latest developments continue to head in one direction – a downward spiral that has now resulted in KBS confirming that it’s airing a SMW special on … Continue reading →

A filming commencement ceremony was held last week in Kaifeng (the old capital of the Song Dynasty) for the upcoming blockbuster martial arts historical movie Saving General Yang (忠烈楊家將). Present for the media event was the actors playing five of the seven Yang brothers: Yu Buo (Second Brother), Vic Zhou (Third Brother), Raymond Lam (Fifth Brother), Wu Zun (Sixth Brother), … Continue reading →
[Update: as of midnight Sunday night, Han Ye Seul was still a no-show for the entire day’s filming, and representatives from both sides have been in a closed door meeting that ended with no agreement. Tomorrow’s episode may be replaced with something else in the worst case scenario that filming can’t resume on Monday morning.] This is not good. In … Continue reading →
Even though Protect the Boss just started airing last week, it’s successor drama Tree with Deep Roots, which has been in pre-production since March, finally commenced filming this week. The drama held an open set media day where the three main leads Jang Hyuk, Han Suk Kyu, and Shin Se Kyung, met the media in costume and actually filmed some scenes. … Continue reading →
Such pretty pretty people. Don’t stare too long or you might see stars in your eyes. Giordano Korea’s Fall 2011 catalogue has just been released, and it’s three spokesmodels Jung Woo Sung, Shin Mina, and So Ji Sub, are looking equal parts well-dressed and well-posed. Loving the clothes, and loving even more the mature and sexy vibe the three of … Continue reading →
This movie looks stunning. I am enthralled by how moody and evocative the first official stills look from the upcoming movie Always with So Ji Sub and Han Hyo Joo. He plays a boxer, she plays a blind artist, clearly they fall for each other. Some couplings just visually look right together, and I’ve thought so about this pairing since … Continue reading →
What makes Black & White such a solid thriller drama lies in it’s script and filming being fully completed prior to broadcast. Without the need to cater to audience whims or extension requests, the plot is well thought out and the presentation flows smoothly. The action and plot exposition pieces are deftly woven with the character interactions. The romance aspect … Continue reading →
Buh? My newsfeed is usually brimming with rumors, gossip, and confirmations that rarely does any casting catch me off guard only after it’s been verified. And especially about my handsome Jo Hyun Jae, no less. Well, newly minted fans of Jo Hyun Jae after watching him as the perfect white knight Han Kang in 49 Days, wait no longer because … Continue reading →
It’s the grand finale of Drunken to Love You this weekend, and I for one am absolutely thrilled (and going to break out the bubbly at home when I watch it). The last two episodes reinvigorated my passion for this drama, which had mellowed in the past few weeks, but has been revived just in time to celebrate four months of a great drama … Continue reading →
This drama? Is wonderfully cute. I’ve been indifferent to Aragaki Yui since she gave such a placid performance in Code Blue, so she doesn’t exactly call to mind determined, blunt, and cranky young lawyer Ayukawa Wakaba, a gunning for private jet and Manhattan penthouse type of character. Boy was I wrong. Zenkai Girl with Yui and Nishikido Ryo (as yummy … Continue reading →
