Guess who is all together again in Shanghai? The entire lead cast of all three Happy dramas, that’s who! Ming Dao and Annie Chen (Happy and Love Forever), Mike He and Janine Chang (Sunny Happiness), and my boy Li Yi Feng (he was the second male lead in the first two Happy dramas), all joined the new leads Blue Lan … Continue reading →
Everything about episode 14 of Drunken to Love You was predictable, but darn was it satisfying to watch. The journey of Jie Xiu and Xiao Ru feel so steady, so sure, so much following the saying that a house is built by laying a brick at a time. They are a couple made from appreciation and affection turned into love … Continue reading →
One of the tried and true ways to barrel through a drama with some pretty big gaping holes in acting, script, or direction is if the OTP has insane chemistry and both actors are bring it in terms of the performance. Some of the recent dramas I’ve liked fell into that category of bad drama, great OTP with some solid … Continue reading →
Kim! Rae! Won! *incoherent screaming* The man with the million-watt smile is getting released from military service in early August, and I knew he’d be a hot commodity. What I didn’t know was exactly how hot – Kim Rae Won has been just confirmed as the male lead for the upcoming Kim Soo Hyun-penned weekday melodrama. Formerly called Forget Me … Continue reading →
Only a few days away from the July nuptials of Eugene and Ki Tae Young, and the ravishingly in love couple have released a few of their wedding pictures. Supposedly the majority of their wedding pictures will be shot during their European honeymoon as the couple wanted a natural backdrop for their sure-to-be-gorgeous pictures. I can’t wait to see the … Continue reading →
It’s out! Channel V in Taiwan has the official premiere for Rainie Yang‘s first single “We Are All Fools” off her new album, which has been featured in almost every episode of Drunken to Love You since the drama’s premiere. The MV guest-stars Rainie’s DTLY co-star Joseph Chang, and I swear their chemistry fried the thermometer in my house when I … Continue reading →
I find Spy Myung Wol such an odd duck so far. This episode was amusing, but not terribly coherent and the over-arching narrative still eludes me. I like it, finding myself chuckling at times, but as a whole it still hasn’t sucked me in. And I want to be sucked in, like some sort of vampire attraction that is inexplicable … Continue reading →
I feel like I just discovered a greater purpose for why I do recaps. While K-dramas are covered extensively by so many great writers, TW-dramas never really had the quality to lure people to write about it. Even the two TW-dramas I’ve recapped this year have been great fun and well-made, but ultimately nothing mind blowing. Until now. Material Queen is a drama that … Continue reading →
Janine Chang is currently headed to Shanghai to join Mike He, Ming Dao, and Annie Chen to film their guest-starring role in the grand opening scene for the upcoming Happy Three Stars, the third and final drama in the Happy trilogy which stars Blue Lan and Cheryl Yang. It’s a quick trip because Janine just started filming Please Ring Twice … Continue reading →
We can’t have the Summer movie season in Korea without a requisite horror movie to scare the ladies into whimpering on their boyfriends’ shoulders. Ghastly (Korea title is Parasite), starring No Min Woo, Han Eun Jung, and T-ara‘s Hyomin, held a press conference today and the movie is coming out in early August. I confess to being a horror movie … Continue reading →
The Drunken to Love You OST is out, or in Taiwan at least. It’ll be available on Yesasia on July 22nd. The first release will be a limited edition that contains a photo notebook of pictures and memorable quotes from the drama. My guess is that 99% of those quotes came from Song Jie Xiu’s mouth. I’m a sucker for … Continue reading →
While I’m not in love with Spy Myung Wol, which doesn’t mean anything since we’re only two episodes into this drama, I’m nevertheless waiting to see if the next two episodes tips my interest one way or another. I’m happy to let the pretty wooden acting from everyone slide as long as the story remains interesting and the execution fluid. … Continue reading →
SBS‘s upcoming weekend drama Scent of a Woman released more stills this week, as well as a second teaser trailer. The chemistry between Kim Sun Ah and Lee Dong Wook looks off-the-charts, and I’m not surprised because both actors almost always have sensational chemistry with their co-stars. Add to the mix Eom Ki Joon and Seo Hyo Rim and what … Continue reading →
