When there is a breakthrough it’s always so fun to watch the star in question embrace that exposure. For K-actor Ahn Hyo Seob, he’s actually able to strike while the A Business Proposal success iron is still hot as he’s already filming his next drama the Korean remake of Someday or One Day which will air later this year. I … Continue reading →
Ratings are important for recouping production investment and ensuring more K-dramas are made, but sometimes there are gems that don’t get the broader reception but linger as an asset to the genre. Such is the trajectory of jTBC Sat-Sun drama My Liberation Diary, it took over the time slot from Forecasting Love and Weather but is bringing in less than … Continue reading →
Well, it looks like the weekend ratings bonanza is over for the time being now that the first batch out of the 2022 gate is over and the current crop unable to match the same audience interest. This weekend had two new premieres, the first was tvN drama Shooting Star which is a Fri-Sat drama and yesterday’s episode 1 was … Continue reading →
J-ent remains more common that married actresses, and especially married with kids actresses, will retire formally and focus on the family. Nothing wrong with that but it’s sad to see so many faves leave the industry when there is plenty of optionality to continue their career. J-actress Ishihara Satomi got married two years ago and made it clear she was … Continue reading →
It’s been FOREVER since I wrote about C-dramas which equates to how long it’s been since I watched one. When I do write about C-dramas its because one has made the broader news for good or bad reasons but I really haven’t seen anything that has drawn me to click on more than one episode. So I am shocked that … Continue reading →
Whomever decided to give tvN Fri-Sat drama Shooting Star the official English title of Sh**ting Stars deserves to be flogged. The moment I laid eyes on it I read it a shitting star because hello why else blank blank two letters if not because it’s a bad word. This is a case of trying to be cute not working like … Continue reading →
Well this is a curveball but one that I’m ready to hit out of the park as well. K-ent is reporting that Ha Ji Won has been offered the female lead in the upcoming big budget K-drama Tree Dies on Their Feet. The male leads are going to be Kang Ha Neul and Jung Hae In, with veteran Youn Yuh … Continue reading →
We are 1/3 through the year 2022 and on the heels of a catastrophic Q1 for streaming giant Netflix, as announcing on its earning call earlier this week, the future of what was a expansive K-drama surge in global access may be less smooth sailing. Last year 2021 was a banner year for K-dramas specifically on Netflix led by Squid … Continue reading →
The revenge romance is in the works and sounds like a reverse gender Secret Love scenario. Upcoming Tell Me It’s Love has secured Kim Young Kwang as the male lead and an offer is out to Lee Sung Kyung for the female lead, and there is certainly lots of height and visuals with this pairing. The drama is about a … Continue reading →
I liken doing a weekend drama to having a safe paycheck and a steady gig for six months, with the bonus if the drama is a total success then it’s another popularity boost much like recent hit Young Lady and Gentleman gave Ji Hyun Woo back his mojos and cemented rookie Lee Se Hee as a leading lady. KBS is … Continue reading →
Of all the drinks out there, water is the most refreshing and necessary but also kinda forgotten since it’s not as flashy. I guzzle water and in the same way I always embrace more Kim Yoo Jung, who has been repping a water brand for a few years now and always makes grabbing a bottle of aqua so enticing. If … Continue reading →
We’ve had a Fugitive, a Vagabond, and now we’re getting a Vigilante! K-drama is prepping the live action remake of the webtoon Vigilante and an offer is out to Nam Joo Hyuk as the male lead. If he accepts it will be a HUGE change of his recent roles from either nice guy to good guy to sweet guy, and … Continue reading →
The casting flood continues in K-ent this week and another drama has finalized the main lead roles. Suzy was already confirmed for The Girl Downstairs, the K-drama adaptation of webtoon Lee Doona, and now her male lead is the just returned from military service Yang Se Jong. Also joining is Lee Yoo Bi who will be playing the second female … Continue reading →
