A successful project doesn’t guarantee the success of the subsequent but it does add leverage to getting big name casts signed on. Unfortunately for screenwriter Park Ji Eun coming off Crash Landing on You, and she also wrote Legend of the Blue Sea, Producer, and You From Another Star, her next leading lady will not be singer-actress IU. The offer … Continue reading →
Looks like it will be double the Im Soo Hyang dosage coming in May, and honestly the channel bitch fight is way more interesting. On Tuesday MBC announced that K-drama Dr. Lawyer with So Ji Sub, Shin Sung Rok, Im Soo Hyang will air on May 27th, normal announcing stuff. Then it heard through the grapevine that SBS was suddenly … Continue reading →
Against all odds, SBS Mon-Tues drama A Business Proposal has been the shining-est student on the block for 2022 dramas so far. Contentious casting choices, terribly flat drama posters, all of it was just pre-premiere detritus now as the actual drama was just wonderful out of the gate and stayed that way throughout. Bravo to pulling off a daunting feat … Continue reading →
The tendency to discuss things in extremes continues to obscure actual substantive subject matter. In the last decade there emerged this idea of “cancellation” when someone did something wholly objectionable or personally distasteful. There are two separate things, the former objectively a valid reason and the latter a personal choice. The swift and wholesale cancellation last year in 2021 of … Continue reading →
It’s was a super busy week in K-ent last week and one of the events was the conclusion of a high profile drama. jTBC Wed-Thurs leading ladies friendship drama Thirty Nine wrapped on Thursday with its highest rating to date at 8.122%, fantastic ratings having aired on a cable channel. But if there is something called un-buzz it would be … Continue reading →
The howls of outrage over the ending of Twenty Five, Twenty One have turned into resignation and sadness, the usual stages of grief. For the same viewers also watching A Business Proposal this Monday’s episode 11 was just what the doctor ordered to get over the bitter tonic that was Twenty Five, Twenty One. This episode was all tasty tidbits, … Continue reading →
In a change of pace from this past weekend’s conclusion of two high profile romance dramas, tvN just dropped the first teaser for fantasy romance Link: Eat and Love to Kill. I dislike the recent trend to put a lot more words after a drama title, the worst recent offender is Forecasting Love and Weather which had the Korean title … Continue reading →
I guess hair cutting as a fresh start signifier isn’t just for the ladies after a breakup, in this case K-actor Yoo Seung Ho is returning to a look he sported when he enlisted for military service years ago and trying it on again now years older. He looks great, there is an energy and focus in these new pictures … Continue reading →
Once again the adage of live K-drama watching being a walk in landmines comes to fruition, and a new generation of ardent drama watchers will take away a lesson. Unfortunately it’s that rather than a satisfying conclusion for tvN drama Twenty Five, Twenty One, which got overwhelming hate for how it ended the drama despite record high ratings of 11.513%, … Continue reading →
Okay, this is a spoiler free poster above the cut but below proceed at your own risk. I woke up to tvN drama Twenty Five, Twenty One being a hot trending topic in many places – Korean search portals and Weibo in China – and knew that the ending clearly generated a lot of interest. I banked the drama for … Continue reading →
Much as I think it’s pretty obsessive of fans to pore over every single detail of their idol or stars life, in the past there have been dating news that broke which the fans either knew about or speculated due to tons of social media sleuthing most commonly using couple items or same location backdrops. There have been a few … Continue reading →
It’s finale weekend for two buzzy and high profile cable weekend K-dramas, though their paths have diverged more noticeably as airing went on. tvN drama Twenty Five, Twenty One and jTBC drama Forecasting Love and Weather are both finishing this weekend, and when the dramas premiered the ratings were really close but over time Twenty Five, Twenty One increased to … Continue reading →
I’m sure the fan interest in top Korean star couple Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin‘s real life wedding will die down soon, but NOT YET hahaha! Seriously, this couple’s nuptials definitely qualify for rubbernecking even if they weren’t famous, the dress was exquisite, the tux impeccable, the floral arrangements breathtaking, and the couple shooting exuding love and happiness from … Continue reading →
