K-viewers got a midweek treat this Wednesday with the arrival of jTBC Wed-Thurs drama Thirty Nine, adapted from a hit C-drama and with the female character led cast navigating the trials and tribulations of being on the cusp of forty years old. Age is for sure just a thing but I can see a culture fixated on women’s age mining … Continue reading →
I hope sparks majorly fly for upcoming romance drama Crazy Love, it’s got such a wild concept so the two leads are going to have to hard sell it. The first poster and preview is here and shows leads Kim Jae Wook and Krystal at a wedding, though it’s not the one of his dreams for sure. She’s got a … Continue reading →
There is so much WTF going on here with the clothing items Elle Korea draped over Yoona and Lee Jong Seok, and it’s to their credit that they pull it off with style. There are seams showing, weird cropping, and tonal and fabric mismatches, of course it’s all “intentional” but goodness it’s like they found items from a Goodwill bin … Continue reading →
It was not a happy Valentine’s Day 2022 in the Zhang-Wu family as news broke in C-ent that married acting couple and former drama costars Zhang Yu Jian and Janice Wu (Wu Qian) have divorced. They confirmed their relationship and marriage during last year’s Valentine’s Day but were together since working on the C-drama Le Coup de Foudre in 2019. … Continue reading →
The COVID-19 surge in South Korea in no joke, since December for the last three months its non stop news about this star/actor/singer/idol testing positive. There are way too many to keep post tabs on but on the occasion it’s a super big name star or someone I follow closely it does remind that entertainers don’t have the luxury of … Continue reading →
I found Song Hye Kyo‘s last drama Now, We are Breaking Up a real waste of the fashion industry. I don’t know if I was simply not feeling the fashions and plot lines but I felt the drama could have been set in any other industry and the same issues could apply. I also didn’t deliver the edgy trendy “high … Continue reading →
It’s a sigh of relief after the weekend premieres of two new cable dramas, and probably the biggest winners from opening weekend’s good ratings and good reviews (critics and K-netizens) are the young male leads Nam Joo Hyuk and Song Kang. They even give off similar auras as tall, boy-next-door type male actors and I can see them being up … Continue reading →
The shining star in the KBS drama line up last year was weekend hit Young Lady and Gentleman, which is in the tail end of it’s airing period. Female lead Lee Se Hee was a super rookie newcomer with not even a second female lead role under her belt when she was selected as the female lead and the success … Continue reading →
I always feel like Kim Jae Wook and rom-coms are such a tenuous treat that I don’t want to get too excited and spook him from doing more in the future like a skittish colt lol. I feel like he does it perhaps for the paycheck and also because mmmmmmmm he’s so delicious it would be a shame not to … Continue reading →
Both were underdogs before it aired and it’s a validation that something about each drama brings in their viewers. The second episode of newly premiered Sat-Sun dramas Forecasting Love and Weather on jTBC and tvN having Twenty Five, Twenty One both saw ratings increases from their premieres. Forecasting Love and Weather increased from 4.514% to 5.455% and even more impressive … Continue reading →
Well this is unexpected! I’m still waiting to binge both episodes of jTBC drama Forecasting Love and Weather, since it’s Superbowl Sunday and all and priorities, m’kay. That’s why I don’t know what led up to what may be the fastest workplace romance development in the history of K-drama rom-coms but it was hard not to be spoiled by viewers … Continue reading →
K-actress Park Shin Hye is definitely one of South Korean entertainment’s Nation’s Daughter. Everyone watched her grow up since her debut in Stairway to Heaven and it was like we married off our own daughter/neice/granddaughter when she got married last month to fellow K-actor Choi Tae Joon. This weekend she posted on her SNS a picture from her wedding pictorial … Continue reading →
It’s important to preface that the two new Sat-Sun K-dramas are NOT directly competing with each other for eyeballs. For tvN drama Twenty Five, Twenty One, it airs at 9:10 pm, and over at jTBC the drama Forecasting Love and Weather comes on at 10:30 pm. That makes for what I love most, each drama really competing with itself, does … Continue reading →
