I feel like I just watched half a drama, but considering all the behind the scenes trials and tribulations that befell this production, I’ll give it as a glass half full scenario. KBS Mon-Tues sageuk River Where the Moon Rises ended today, the ratings were the same as the penultimate episode, and overall was in the high single digits but … Continue reading →
Looks like Here is out and Our Blues is in. Award winning screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung was prepping a new drama announced last year called Here based on people working overseas in NGOs but the production and filming continued to get pushed back due to travel restrictions during the pandemic. Vincenzo got around that by making the Italy scenes very … Continue reading →
A long time on the shelf is better than forever on the shelf and the cast and crew of the K-drama adaptation of manhwa So I Married an Anti-Fan will finally see the end product. The drama was filmed in 2018, a lifetime and one pandemic ago, starring Choi Tae Joon, Sooyoung, and Chansung. Even earlier there was a Chinese-Korean … Continue reading →
The second to last episode of River Where the Moon Rises is here and it entertained me well enough for an hour since it led to so many eyerolls I was wondering how much more I can hate all the major male characters not named Ondal. I wonder how Kwon Hwa Woon‘s manager sold him this guest starring role as … Continue reading →
Las year the Korean box office went from $1.5 billion to $250 million due to the pandemic and this year it’s on the same pace so movies released in 2020 after March through the end of the pandemic will have to be judged relative to other such movies and unable to garner the same level of ticket sales and attendance. … Continue reading →
Weddings have been cancelled or postponed for over a year in many countries since the pandemic started it’s actually nice to see one happen with a semblance of normalcy. K-actor Ryu Deok Hwan got married in Seoul over the weekend, to his non-celebrity fiancee of over 8 years. He’s been in so many movies and dramas with a wide swatch … Continue reading →
I can’t believe it’s been six years since K-stars Kim Woo Bin and Shin Mina started dating, in 2015. It was after his big break in Heirs and she’s long been a darling of K-ent with her dimples and unique aura. They visually matched well and I think the general consensus was much love for this cute couple. They’ve seen … Continue reading →
I started my K-drama journey on a sageuk, years and years ago. A good and proper sageuk, all 55-episodes that was Seodongyo full of slow and meaningful developments interspersed with cliffhanger episode endings and plenty of meat to keep me hooked. I haven’t seen one of those in years, and it’s a shame. I mean, Jumong was 81-episodes long and … Continue reading →
Okay, I’m getting into the Taxi Driver cab now that it’s got certified buzz and good reviews. The newly arrived SBS Fri-Sat drama started off with controversy by featuring a bad guy that committed a crime too similar to a real life cast, not to mention to pre-premiere hot mess with April‘s Lee Na Eun when she dropped out due … Continue reading →
The absolutely a waste of talent Korean adaptation of Bu Bu Jing Xin (Scarlet Heart or Startling with Each Step) remains one of the saddest “What could have been?” productions. Moon Lovers (Scarlet Heart: Ryeo) had a powerhouse cast across the board though two cast members are now gone from the industry so maybe it really does make for not … Continue reading →
The truth behind Kim Jung Hyun‘s cold and odd behavior filming MBC drama Time, which the public witnessed first hand at the disastrous press conference, is likely wrapping up. Once the truth is out, including why he acting that way, the only thing left is seeing if the public will accept his apology and let him comeback at some point … Continue reading →
I feel mentally exhausted from yet another scandal in K-ent so time for eye ball cleansing positive bleach! K-netizens gathered together a batch of college graduation era pictures for popular Hallyu and top stars which show (1) they were all gorgeous back then, and (2) dang they don’t age! Song Joong Ki was a competitive speed skater and in college … Continue reading →
Next year will be the 10th anniversary of Nice Guy (The Innocent Man), and don’t think I’ve forgotten how much I love this drama, how indelible it was to live action, and of course how much I adore Moon Chae Won and Song Joong Ki individually and even more so together onscreen. Each have a successful, high rated, and well … Continue reading →
