Goodness this is a wild and wildly impressive casting land for the production of upcoming action K-movie Emergency Declaration. Starring leads Song Kang Ho, Lee Byung Hun, and Jeon Do Yeon, the movie added Im Shi Wan and Kim Nam Gil a few weeks ago and this week pulled in Park Hae Joon (male lead of The World of the … Continue reading →
I thought all celebrities kept track of their own evolution, I mean their entire life in front of the camera is documented so it’s almost like a video and picture diary being kept. But stars like us live ordinary lives away from the limelight so they don’t always remember every look and every pictorial and like us it’s both cringe … Continue reading →
Do you want lip balm, lots of boba milk tea, kimchee side dish in a bag, fried chicken and beer, ice coffee, and a UV light face mask? Does that all sound so random? It’s as random as it sounds when the viewer encounters it watching The King: Eternal Monarch. When a drama is good the PPL is accepted as … Continue reading →
Another week another controversy but rather than say its much ado about nothing I do hope something positive comes from this. jTBC Fri-Sat night record breaking hit drama The World of the Married remains sky high in ratings during last weekend’s penultimate airing, with the final ahead this coming week. It’s unfortunate timing that both child (teen) actors in the … Continue reading →
I love the English title for this drama, it’s totally what everyone needs to say out loud once a day during these trying times. It’s Okay to Not be Okay (formerly I’m Psycho But It’s Okay) kicked off filming last month in April and recently released script reading stills of the cast gathered together including Kim Soo Hyun, Seo Ye … Continue reading →
The US media site Observer clearly was curious along with everyone staying home as to what entertainment is the go-to destination now that movie theaters, concerts, and sporting events are all halted. Television and streaming shows are available and Netflix is still the King of streaming with the most robust and diverse slate of shows licensed and originally produced. The … Continue reading →
K-ent is reporting that upcoming gritty K-movie Bogota starring Song Joong Ki may not see the light of day. The cast and crew were in Bogota, Colombia on an extensive location shoot, makes sense for a movie title based on a specific location, when they had to cut short filming and quickly go back to South Korea in February doing … Continue reading →
The only comfort in this shamelessness is that even the media isn’t covering it with usual glossiness. Disgraced and returned like a zombie South Korean singer-actor Park Yoo Chun has taken his talents to Thailand, Japan, and now China during his “comeback” tour after announcing his retirement from showbiz following a drug use arrest. This week he opened his official … Continue reading →
The first teaser is out for upcoming SBS Fri-Sat drama Backstreet Rookie (Korean title Convenience Store Morning Star or Convenience Store Saet Byul) and I find nothing bad about it which is a huge relief because this entire project felt so polarizing. There’s concern about Kim Yoo Jung and Ji Chang Wook‘s age gap (there are so much worse in … Continue reading →
Veteran screenwriter Kim Eun Sook has the longest K-drama hit streak among her peers so it’s likely she’s getting her projects scooped up on concept and casting alone. It’s too bad she’s too big for oversight because someone could have read her early few episode scripts for The King: Eternal Monarch and told her this ambitious plan was too big … Continue reading →
I wouldn’t chalk this up to COVID-19 cohabitation friction related split, more like it was bound to happen due to rash and immature getting together in the first place. HK singer Gillian Chung and her Taiwanese doctor husband Michael Lai confirmed their divorce this week, after 14-months of marriage though they did hold a wedding ceremony 6 months prior to … Continue reading →
This week the Hong Kong Film Association announced the winners of the prestigious Hong Kong Film Awards, held via a video telecast for the first time in the award history rather than one of the most star-studded red carpets and ceremonies in Asian cinema. For me the magnificence, resonance, and inspiring impact of movies that challenge the heart, mind, and … Continue reading →
There is A LOT packed into what Kim Eun Sook wanted to do with The King: Eternal Monarch and I’m probably going to lay the majority of the blame for this drama being her first ratings flop on her above all the other problems. Sure there are directing lacks and acting inability to deliver depth and chemistry, but I cannot … Continue reading →
