The tvN Sat-Sun time slot tends to be trendier K-dramas and this one is as old-school as it gets. When My Love Blooms is every way a throwback to one of the most famous K-dramas of all time Winter Sonata, the young love thwarted with a second chance two decades later, except without the amnesia and having the leads in … Continue reading →
Is it enlistment time because this is the second young actor confirming a May 2020 appointment with the South Korean armed forces. Yook Sung Jae is joining the army on May 11, taking a break from his triple entertainment career advancement in acting, singing, and variety shows. He looks to be walking in Lee Seung Gi‘s footsteps and the two … Continue reading →
Spring 2020 is midway through now and the anticipated dramas that arrived so far have not followed through with predictions. Time to look forward into the summer to tvN drama Start Up (formerly called Sandbox) starring Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk. It’s about the Seoul equivalent of Silicon Valley and true to the title is a drama about the world … Continue reading →
It’s almost exactly a year to the day that SBS was supposed to air big budget big name cast action thriller drama Vagabond, which was later pushed back a few months into the fall of 2019 rather than spring. Vagabond aired in the same channel and same Fri-Sat time slot as the currently airing The King: Eternal Monarch and it … Continue reading →
All hail the new ratings champion on cable – jTBC Fri-Sat makjang melodrama The World of the Married took the topic of cheating and deceit and emotionally devastation to a new level of success as the most recent episode 12 became the highest single episode rated cable drama ever. Everyone is cooking so much more and many sheltering at home so we’re all in essence living Three Meals a Day, heh. Of course very few are doing so in the backdrop of Fishing Village as the 5th season of the popular variety show premiered this Friday with the reunion of original cast Cha Seung Won, Son Ho Jun, and … Continue reading →
Most Korean actors and actresses get their coverage domestically with South Korean editions of magazines and CFs. Only a handful of Hallyu and international movie cred actors and actresses get coverage outside of Korea and K-actress Song Hye Kyo is one of the most broadly featured. I’ve seen her on the cover of major fashion magazines like Vogue, Elle, Harper’s … Continue reading →
I…..am at loss for words. Like, how is it possible that The King: Eternal Monarch is written by Kim Eun Sook. I have watched EVERY SINGLE drama she has written and I’m not even talking about her recent year trendy hits like Goblin, Descendants of the Sun, Heirs and Secret Garden. She wrote my all time favorite K-drama City Hall, … Continue reading →
First off, I hope salty commenters will stop and just think of how incredible and commendable it is for these young women to earn their money from their own hard work whether by singing, acting, or doing CFs because of their popularity from singing and acting. This week K-ent variety ran a segment on the girl idol with the most … Continue reading →
I really make an effort to post enlistment news because it’s always weird if casual drama viewers suddenly don’t hear about an actor and it’s because that guy has gone off for two years for mandatory military service. It’s Yang Se Jong‘s time next month, he’s enlisting in the army on May 12th so godspeed and be safe young man. … Continue reading →
I need a reason to like either lead characters in The King: Eternal Monarch and 4-episodes I can’t find a reason and the story is so convoluted to boot. The new stills for episode 5 still make me annoyed, it’s the same cool, calm, handsome beautific smile from Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun alternatively is looking dumbstruck, then … Continue reading →
Okay, after last year 2019’s epically sordid taxi makeout cheating between top singer Andy Hui with starlet Jacqueline Wong and later forgiven by Andy’s also top singer wife Sammi Cheng, it’s like the entire HK ent should be scared straight on like maybe NOT CHEATING and definitely not in public. But a year later and here we go again – … Continue reading →
I feel like tvN Mon-Tues drama A Piece of Your Mind was the similar cousin to jTBC also Mon-Tues drama When the Weather is Good. Both were quietly paced and warmly emotional, and neither got high ratings or buzz during its run. I watched all of When the Weather is Good, really powering through almost because I wanted so much … Continue reading →
