Puff Guo’s most recent TW-drama Before We Get Married brought back all my addiction feels that have been gone for years with dramas from Taiwan. Seeing her this week in Taipei attending the Boss event alongside Roy Qiu of course reminds me of their one time working together in TW-drama Miss Rose and how I loved that drama even though … Continue reading →
I had this post ready and shelved it after the untimely passing of young K-ent star Sulli because she attended the event and it just felt insensitive to write something that involved her. The event in question is the Fendi showcase in Seoul two months ago in September 2019, which would be one of the last public appearances of Sulli … Continue reading →
I really hope the intention of the production was to paint Ahn Jae Hyun and Oh Yeon Seo as totally cringeworthy characters with exaggerated performances in the first teaser for upcoming K-drama People With Flaws. In that case they succeeded because lordy was that awful to watch with major second hand embarrassment for them. They game they were playing, Oh … Continue reading →
This December comes a new legal drama based on a best selling novel and saddled with an incredible acting bonanza cast. Diary of a Prosecutor stars Lee Seon Kyun and Jung Ryeo Won as prosecutors in a small town in South Korea and chronicles their daily working lives. It’s described as not a legal thriller but as a slice-of-life look … Continue reading →
I double checked my Meteor Garden encyclopedia and confirmed, yep there is a twenty year age difference and the two dramas aired 18 years apart. I’m talking about OG Taiwanese Meteor Garden and the latest C-version remake Meteor Garden 2018, and now the pairing of OG Domyouji Jerry Yan with latest Tsukushi Shen Yue. I was thinking of OG Meteor … Continue reading →
I’m not sure if anyone watching hit South Korean talent selection show Produce 101, which has had 4 seasons now, thinks that it is 100% fan voted with no producer and management involvement. But even knowing is different then getting confirmation that yes, the shows are indeed rigged and fan voting has nothing to do with who makes the final … Continue reading →
This is a little early for year end lists but like Christmas creep everything happens earlier and earlier. Joynews in South Korea conducted a poll of 200 K-ent industry insiders from producers, directors, screenwriters, and drama crew members to ask their opinion on the best and worst lists of 2019 dramas. I’ll start with the Worst K-drama of 2019 since … Continue reading →
Sorry that I’m more enchanted by the autumnal leaves and the really really white horse than by Lee Min Ho but I know his fans will gobble this up and rightly so. He looks very rich and handsome in the first stills for upcoming two worlds fantasy romance drama The King: Eternal Sovereign. This looks cheesy in the same way … Continue reading →
Upcoming jTBC drama Chocolate feels surprisingly low key and low promo which is fine with me. All my favorite Lee Kyung Hee dramas were the ones that flew under the radar more than her highly anticipated ones. Her specialty is crafting a sadder than sad set up between the leads and milking their chemistry and angst for every tasty drop … Continue reading →
Oooooh, I love this potential casting, please ink it right away MBC! K-ent is reporting that Lee Joon Hyun and Nam Ji Hyun have been offered the leads in 2020 time travel sci-fi romance drama 365: A Year of Defying Fate. I remember the crazy spate of time travel dramas around 2012-2013 days but it’s died down now for years … Continue reading →
I’m just as excited about Yoon Kye Sang in jTBC melodrama Chocolate as I am about Ha Ji Won doing it, and being paired together was one of those early Hallyu pairings I wanted but sorta forgot about over the years. Better late than never and the whole mood for the drama totally reminds of me dark chocolate, the bitter … Continue reading →
I’m not sure if this is a great career shift but hopefully he’ll have fun trying it out. K-actor Lee Dong Wook is hosting his own SBS talk show starting this December called…..Lee Dong Wook Wants to Talk. Ahahaha, OMG I love the dorkout on the name. He doesn’t strike me as outgoing or talkative but that’ll just make his … Continue reading →
I have to thank KBS Mon-Tues drama The Tale of Nokdu for invigorating my love of K-dramas again. It’s been so long and this drama makes me count the days until Monday and then get sad after Tuesday, it makes me grin like a loon when I watch and then pout because I can’t have another hit right away. Episode … Continue reading →
