The cross-over of Taiwanese and Korean stars is happening so much lately, and this week we have Jung Hae In over in Taiwan attending the Golden Bell Awards while Roy Qiu was in Korean at the Busan International Film Festival. Roy has been more prominent in movies the last three years, his hit movie Dear Ex last year got him … Continue reading →
This weekend was the 2019 Golden Bell Awards in Taiwan, their version of the Emmy’s feting the best of television for the year. The big winner was, not surprising at all, cable drama The World Between Us (Our Distance to Evil) which won 6 awards including Best Drama, Best Screenplay, Best Actress to Alyssa Chia, Best Supporting Actor to James … Continue reading →
This weekend saw the premiere of jTBC sageuk drama My Country, the latest sageuk we’ll see this year and hopefully turns out to be the best we’ve had so far. The ratings are solid for the second largest cable network coming it at 3.512% and 3.846% for the first and second episodes. Early reviews are promising but more for the … Continue reading →
If the old-fashioned look is in then Korean idol-actress Yoona has achieved the remarkable win over a very difficult to conquer style. Yoona and her hit movie Exit costar Jo Jung Seok and the director all attended an Open Talk session at the 2019 Busan International Film Festival two days after walking the opening night red carpet. The movie is … Continue reading →
Okay, we’ll know we just have to wait and see. Days after K-ent reported that Park Shin Hye and Jo Seung Woo had been offered the leads in upcoming cable drama Sisyphus: The Myth, both have accepted. It’s a done deal so no need to sling positive or negative predictions, Jo Seung Woo will head into filming after he’s done … Continue reading →
My growing frustration with SBS Fri-Sat drama Vagabond is that it could be so much better. There is a compelling conspiracy and tight action sequences, but the writing is in all CAPS with no subtlety or depth because everything still goes a mile a minute. I’m exhausted watching, without the pauses there is no time to absorb what is happening … Continue reading →
K-actress Park Shin Hye is in drama news this week for possibly working with award winning veteran leading man Jo Seung Woo in a cable network thriller sci-fi drama Sisyphus: The Myth. I hope she accepts and gets to work with such an immense talent as Jo Seung Woo, not to mention a cool sci-fi drama concept. She was out … Continue reading →
K-actor Eric has passed on reprising his own character in the K-drama remake of oldie but goodie Que Sera Sera but never fear because he may come back in early 2020 with a cable drama. He’s been offered the male lead in Channel A drama Casual Vacation, which is actually about food despite the non-food related name. His role is … Continue reading →
This is one case where real life is as makjang and melodramatic as fiction on dramas. TW-ent is all about the crazy, wild love triangle now legal drama involving two stars and one spurned wife. Actor Mars Ma (Ma Jun Lin) and actress Hitomi Wang (Wang Tong) starred as onscreen lovers in hit Taiwanese drama Great Times which ended its … Continue reading →
I’m not a sneakers girl so what gets me into super jelly mode with this latest Song Hye Kyo shoe pictorial is actually her clothes. Every item from the soft dress, cashmere sweater, comfortable wide legged pants, and luxurious coats are so my style. And so her style as she looks beautifully relaxed in this CF pictorial, with her hair … Continue reading →
Now this is more like it! The opening night red carpet of the 2019 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) really delivered the wow factor with many famous names and faces showing up to support the local film industry. The big pairing to walk the red carpet together was Jung Woo Sung and Honey Lee looking impeccable in the respective black … Continue reading →
It’s October, yay, which means it really does feel like fall and I’m ready for something new again. The change of pace catching my eye is Catch the Ghost on tvN, doing the police procedural but without the politics and darkness. Instead the darkness comes from the subway tunnels where the metro squad keeps law and order, and does so … Continue reading →
I skipped Yoon Shi Yoon‘s last drama Nokdu Flower because I wasn’t in the mood for something so patriotic and serious plus he played the antagonist which is great for acting development but hard to watch since he’s such a baby-faced cutie pie in my eyes. But I’m planning to watch his upcoming tvN drama Psychopath Diary even though he … Continue reading →
