Someone on the Netflix Asia team deserves a raise for smartly and oddly pairing up two very similar entertainment stars from different countries for a new show. Jasper Liu from Taiwan and Lee Seung Gi from South Korea have embarked on a travelogue show called Together airing this fall on Netflix Asia with their first stop being Indonesia. It’s part … Continue reading →
There’s a new look for a Joseon sageuk female lead and it’s circa the 1980’s with bangs and a slightly curved bob. Kim So Hyun lops off her long hair in rebellion in her character teaser preview for The Tale of Nokdu, a change from her gender norm much like male lead Jang Dong Yoon cross-dresses as a widowed woman … Continue reading →
I’m appreciating the direction the casting for the upcoming K-drama remake of Que Sera Sera is going after original leads Eric and Jung Yumi turned down reprising their own roles a decade later. Their colleagues of their own generation would naturally be compared to them, so how better to use truly fresh faces. Rising actor Wi Ha Joon is in … Continue reading →
We’ve got two warrior male leads so it’s fitting that the jTBC sageuk My Country is crafting the leading lady as a scholar type. Seolhyun’s teaser for My Country dropped this week and she’s set against the same all black back drop as male leads Yang Se Jong and Woo Do Hwan in their teasers, but while they were wielding swords … Continue reading →
It’s officially fall which means the New York Fashion week is in full swing. Snapped by attendees and Vogue Magazine is K-actress Song Hye Kyo, who has been keeping steady with her acting and endorsement career with no blip after her high profile divorce with Song Joong Ki earlier in the summer. Of course it’s now old news especially with … Continue reading →
In the few years that Suzy and Lee Seung Gi have matured since their first collaboration in sageuk Gu Family Book, and moving their characters up a few hundred years to modern times, some things never change. In the latest Suzy-centric teaser for upcoming SBS action thriller Vagabond, she still reads her dialogue so flat and it’s distracting against the … Continue reading →
K-actor Kim Jae Wook isn’t a diamond in the rough, he’s just a diamond as chiseled and deserving of limelight. He was all James Dean-esque at Incheon Airport earlier this week flying to Taipei and days later he’s suited to perfection at the Tiffany event in front of his adoring fans snapping away on their phones. Having him rep a … Continue reading →
I guess the overseas filming portion in Switzerland of tvN drama Crash Landed Love is done because male lead Hyun Bin attended an Omega event in Seoul this week. Binnie was wearing all black with a black suit and undershirt but he doesn’t look like a douche or a villain, just uber casual and sleek. Maybe I’m just biased but … Continue reading →
The casting is underway for the SBS medical drama Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim 2 and another name thrown in the mix is Lee Sung Kyung for the female lead. If she accepts it will be her second time playing doctor (har har) after Doctors in 2016. Her role would be a second year heart surgeon who grew up as a … Continue reading →
If one didn’t know that upcoming tvN drama Vagabond was an action thriller then the visually loud drama posters will hammer that point home. There are guns, guns, and more guns, and also lots of angry and intense stares. Well, male lead Lee Seung Gi is delivering the intensity for sure with plenty of anger fueling his quest for truth … Continue reading →
This is an interesting way to market the second male lead. Kim Ji Suk joins Kang Ha Neul in vying for the affections of Gong Hyo Jin in upcoming KBS romance drama When the Camellia Blooms but so far all the posters and promos have been of the two leads only. I figure Kim Ji Suk was getting the short … Continue reading →
It’s a short 3 week airing for the final third season of fantasy sageuk Arthdal Chronicles, with only 6-episodes left to wrap up the epic tale. Episode 13 aired this Saturday and got 6.115% ratings, a steep drop from its predecessor Hotel Del Luna which averaged 8.867% and its final episode broke 12%. I’m still not feeling the epic-ness of … Continue reading →
September is when movie season slows down after the jam-packed summer months but I find it usually a good time for K-dramas to deliver quality fare heading into the fall. End of the month comes Melting Me Softly on tvN, which has been promoting for over a month so I feel like it should be here by now but eh … Continue reading →
