I always felt like the Chinese government was fully in charge of it’s entertainment industry. From deciding who got exposure to become famous to who wasn’t going to get promoted, the powers-that-be give and can also taketh away. And now they can also give again as rumors are spreading with a recently released upcoming movie release schedule that tax-evading but … Continue reading →
This is a new poll topic for me aside from the best looking or most popular varieties. K-netizens were polled on who among the current Korean stars personified the ideal “Fashion Benchmark”. It’s basically someone who is a walking fashion ideal in terms of looks and physique, and for once K-netz isn’t salty as Go Jun Hee got the most … Continue reading →
When Jang Hyuk was in the sageuk Tree with Deep Roots as the male lead, the King role was played by Han Seok Kyu as the older and Song Joong Ki as the younger. Eight years later it’s time for Jang Hyuk to be the veteran of the sageuk pack, this time taking on the role of the King character … Continue reading →
Of the two breakout K-drama male actors last year, namely Jang Ki Yong in My Ahjusshi and Woo Do Hwan in The Great Seducer, this year both are in higher profile drama lead territory and I’m curious to see who picks better projects. Jang Ki Yong will arrive first with OCN thriller Kill It, pairing up with Nana as a … Continue reading →
The final average ratings are out tabulating the entire run of each cable K-drama that premiered in 2018. It was fun ride actually, I watched almost all on the top 10 list and even ones I didn’t it was fun to peer in on the hype and excitement. After the wild rise of jTBC end of the year drama Sky … Continue reading →
After fourteen years away from the small screen, actress Lee Young Ae‘s return in 2017 with the SBS drama Saimdang, Light’s Diary wasn’t the hit it was expected to be. Not her fault, the world of K-dramas has changed fundamentally since her 2003 pan-Asia hit Dae Jang Geum (Jewel in the Palace). So while K-dramas might not be her sauce … Continue reading →
If there is ever a K-ent comeback story more affirming that Joo Ji Hoon I’ve yet to see it, but then again he really had some luck coupled with copious amounts of hard work. Ten years ago in 2009 he was arrest for marijuana use and his sky rocketing career after Goong (Princess Hours) and Mawang (The Devil) ground to … Continue reading →
I totally get why Park Bo Gum may not be a lot of people’s cup of tea, though I think way more people like than dislike him based on his wild popularity in Korea. He’s got this beaming smile and clean cut good looks, liking him can be likened to loving white bread but I find way more depth in … Continue reading →
These days stars not only use their social media to increase their reach to their fans and share updates, it’s also conversely has become source for potentially negative updates. Last week Song Hye Kyo cleaned out her social media account by deleting a bunch of pictures, including ones of her with husband actor Song Joong Ki. She’s apparently done this … Continue reading →
Consider me pleasantly surprised that Han Ji Min and Nam Joo Hyuk are nailing it in terms of couple visuals on the cover and pages of Dazed Korea magazine. They are currently starring in the jTBC drama The Light in Your Eyes which I haven’t started watching yet but plan to marathon later since it’s a shorter length 12-episode drama. … Continue reading →
It’s time to say buh-bye to crazy and makjang-delicious Wed-Thurs SBS drama An Empress’s Dignity as it sails off without one male lead and maybe also without the other. The final episodes brought in 14.1% and 16.5% ratings as viewers tuned in to see if female lead Jang Nara will absurdly end up with previous not nice but now nice … Continue reading →
Well this is an adorable dating news to brighten a dreary week in February. Young and talented jTBC hit drama Sky Castle costars Kim Bora and Jo Byung Kyu have admitted to their dating relationship on the heels of tabloid Dispatch releasing pictures of the two being adorable out on a date. Nothing wrong whatsoever with young love and hopefully … Continue reading →
I haven’t been following along too closely to upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs drama Doctor Prisoner, partially because its a medical drama but also due to my lack of interest in its predecessor the currently airing What’s Up Poong Sang (Liver or Die). But Doctor Prisoner has Namgong Min and I’m always going to check out his drama at least for an … Continue reading →
