The newly premiered OCN Wed-Thurs drama The Guest (or Hand: The Guest) feels like it came one month late. It should have premiered in August during the traditional lunar new year ghost month because it is hella creepy and thoroughly perfect for sending shivers down the spines of viewers. I’ve watched the first two episodes and loved it but goodness … Continue reading →
K-actress Seo Hyun Jin has in recent years broke through to leading lady status but with it came the feedback that she was getting typecast. Always the ordinary but plucky leading lady with talent and a heaping dose of bad luck. She’s basically the modern Candy or a more shrewish Mary Sue. That’s why it’s going to be refreshing to … Continue reading →
The 2018 Asia-Pacific Film Festival (the 58th year) took place in Taipei among the rotating host countries and hoo boy was it a veritable shit show that the Taiwanese media is covering like mosquitoes over fetid water. The organization was so bad with unending complaints from poor scheduling, lack of communication, food problems, and star attendee mix-ups it sounds like a … Continue reading →
Now this is a pairing that I’m sure no one has ever asked for and really couldn’t come at a worse time. Han Ji Min is currently wowing my socks off in her powerful and caring role in tvN drama Knowing Wife (Familiar Wife) and before the shine is even off she goes and signs on to a problematic male … Continue reading →
A cute cinematic story is coming full circle as 2014 hit K-movie Miss Granny will be getting a K-drama adaptation. I mention the full circle because it’s already conquered other Asian countries with a Chinese movie and later Japanese movie version. The story of a cantankerous and long-suffering grandmother who takes a magic picture and ages back to her 20-something … Continue reading →
I gotta give Park Bo Gum‘s stylist props for hiding his recently grown out mop of hair into a clean cut coiffure to the point I thought he cut it! Park Bo Gum was at a CF event this week looking his more usual clean cut self rather than the recent months unkempt and overgrown mop on head look, he … Continue reading →
If one aims to generate OMG what is she wearing buzz then K-pop idol Sori just delivered because even I sat up and took note of her when prior to this I had no clue of her existence as one half of a girl duo called Cocosori. I mean, what she is wearing has been done before in other colors … Continue reading →
I have a new K-drama addiction and thy name if 100 Days My Prince (Dear Husband of 100 Days). It is soooooooo good, like everything that made Moonlight Drawn by Clouds and The Moon Embraces the Sun winning from the start and hopefully will maintain it’s perfect narrative spooling. Leads D.O. (Do Kyung Soo) and Nam Ji Hyun are pitch … Continue reading →
J-ent has had very high profile celeb marriages in 2018 alone but it’s always been getting married quietly and announcing the news to the public. It’s nice to see a flown blown celebrity wedding ceremony and this one befits an heir of Japanese acting legend as Matsuda Shota married model Akimoto Kozue this week with over 500 people in attendance. … Continue reading →
K-ent loves to keep casting untried idols in dramas so it’s even more important to be reminded once in awhile of why having an established actor headline a drama at least guarantees tangible results. Case in point the just released drama posters for the tvN adaptation of Hundred Million Stars Falling From the Sky (The Smile Has Left Your Eyes) … Continue reading →
Just as I wrote about Lee Jong Seok likely to enlist in 2019 and may be going on military break with While You Were Sleeping as his last major K-drama (he has a short drama coming with Shin Hye Sun), he goes and gets himself positioned for another drama to come. This may be cutting it close considering that recently … Continue reading →
I’m not ready to fully get my hopes up for MBC drama Item but it’s at 2/3rd mast now with the confirmed casting of male lead Joo Ji Hoon and Kim Kang Woo. It’s a police thriller with supernatural elements and these two are a spot on casting. But of course there still a caveat namely Jin Se Yeon has … Continue reading →
It’s odd to see the comparative lack of buzz for tvN period patriotic drama Mr. Sunshine among the international audiences when this drama could be screenwriter Kim Eun Sook‘s highest praised drama to date among South Korean viewers and critics. The ratings are exceptionally high as well even stacked up against tvN’s other behemoths Goblin and Answer Me 1988. This … Continue reading →
