We’re still two weeks out from the premiere of tvN rom-com Why Secretary Kim but the drama has maintained a steady pace in releasing promos. The second drama poster dropped with Park Seo Joon ripping up the resignation letter from his trusty Secretary Kim played by Park Min Young but she’s so prepared she has additional letters in hand. He’s … Continue reading →
The casting for upcoming big budget sageuk Asadal is pulling out the stops and adding one more leading man to already confirmed Song Joong Ki. K-actor Jang Dong Gun is currently starring in the KBS adaptation of Suits and may be suiting up in period gear right after as he’s been offered the other leading man role in Asadal based … Continue reading →
The drama with one of the worst sounding titles is off to start with one of the best casts around, insofar as it makes for somewhat of a Coffee Prince reunion. OCN religious and supernatural themed police thriller Hand: The Guest will star Kim Dong Wook and Kim Jae Wook as a psychic and a priest, respectively, like two cute … Continue reading →
Last weekend the jTBC drama Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food (Something in the Rain) signed off with a scene in the rain, apropos for the PD to really commit to a thematic element throughout the drama. But the drama itself couldn’t commit to a narrative path whether sweet romance or family melodrama, stumbling a bit in the final episodes … Continue reading →
Growing older can be a fight against the tides or the accepting of something that feels inevitable and rather heartfelt. I subscribe to the latter which means I’m happy to hear that Jo Hyun Jae is joining the weekend drama If It is Her along with confirmed leads Nam Sang Mi and Kim Jae Won. It’s like all my favorite … Continue reading →
K-actress Song Hye Kyo remains one of the stalwarts of Hallyu popularity in China, thanks to her steady work and expansive CF campaigns across Asia. A test of an actress’s popularity comes after marriage and so far the Asian netizens seem to love her the same and honestly she looks just as radiant and even happier now that she’s found … Continue reading →
A Korean star finally made a red carpet appearance at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and I’m not feeling her choice. Former SNSD member Jessica Jung, who is attending as a designer guest thanks to her accessories label, walked the red carpet in a violet strapless princess gown covered in tulle petals. Conceptually it’s very girly and pretty but Jessica … Continue reading →
This isn’t a case of the #MeToo movement but is instead an alleged crime that was reportedly in real life, but the entertainment world consequences are right up the same alley. C-actor Gao Yun Xiang, who is married to C-actress Dong Xuan in real life and they have a one year old daughter, was accused of sexual assault in Sydney … Continue reading →
I probably have my hopes a little too optimistic for upcoming tvN drama Why Secretary Kim, but it’s understandable since the cable network continues to deliver solid dramas while the big three seem incapable of churning out consistent quality in any genre. Why Secretary Kim is adapted from a popular webtoon and the PD of This Life is Our First, … Continue reading →
The viewers have spoken and its a resounding ratings and feedback win for jTBC legal drama Miss Hammurabi which premiered this Monday opposite fellow new cable arrival About Time on tvN. Miss Hammurabi brought in nearly double the ratings of About Time, premiering at 3.739% compared to 1.766%. Even more impressive are the positive audience feedback on the acting of … Continue reading →
I think the casting of Jaejoong as a fictional top idol star for a K-drama is too perfect but at the same time not really needed anymore. After Triangle I’ve seen that he can act and his last drama Manhole was an epic fall down a bottomless manhole of a failure in ratings not due to an acting lack from … Continue reading →
There’s been a quick pivot around the next project for K-actress Lee Yoo Young and honestly she’s really making positive strides in drama land. Her first drama was last year’s OCN thriller Tunnel and last week she was reportedly offered the female lead in So Ji Sub‘s fall 2018 drama Terius Behind Me. In the span of a few days … Continue reading →
I’m totes feeling the K-drama version of BBC show Life on Mars, there the same concept of a cop from the present time time-traveling decades to the past but here all the South Korean cultural vibes from the 80’s are presently so perfectly. Jung Kyung Ho reunites with his Cruel City PD for this drama but his cop this time … Continue reading →
