I’m genuinely not writing about Blood solely to snark about it, the snark comes naturally when I see lulzworthy stills or teasers, but there remains a frisson of genuine interest to see what story the Good Doctor production team has concocted. It would have been better with a more experienced and charismatic male lead than Ahn Jae Hyun, who hasn’t … Continue reading →
I’m getting a tad overexcited about the upcoming C-remake of Queen In Hyun’s Man. Blame it on the visuals, or shall I say I’m a sucker for super pretty dramas. The C-remake is being produced in conjunction with the Korean company that made the original, shipping in the Korean PD behind I Need Romance 2 and I Need Romance 3 … Continue reading →
Early promos are revving up for the upcoming early spring comedy coming-of-age movie Twenty. The drama drops in March which is really a nice close one-two punch for leading man Kim Woo Bin, coming off a successful winter holiday movie run for the caper flick The Con Artists. That movie wasn’t a runaway success but did well enough at the … Continue reading →
It’s a funny thing Hyde, Jekyll, Me is doing, thoroughly building up one main character while there is almost zero growth and development from the other lead. Yet it still hooks me because Seo Jin is so entertaining to watch now, diametrically opposite the still dull as beans Ha Na. I would watch Seo Jin talking to a goat and … Continue reading →
I love Song Joong Ki so the news that he’s being inundated with acting offers despite it being three months away from his military service completion makes me happy and relieved. Happy that he’s not been forgotten despite the fast-churning popularity cycle in K-ent, and relieved that he’s got in his hands plenty of offers to pick and choose from … Continue reading →
This is definitely a good news week for SBS. Even if its weekend drama is tanking so hard at unprecedented levels of embarrassing, Punch is owning both the ratings and critical acclaim over on Mon-Tues so that should be sweet consolation. The network can also breath a sigh of relief with the audience opinion in the third week of Hyde, Jekyll, … Continue reading →
Ladies looking for a new makeup trend need look no further than the eye-catching look that is sweeping the Mandarin-speaking countries thank to the popular C-drama The Empress of China. While the heaving bosoms all got left on the editing floor early on during the airing, including many of the sumptuous gowns that was sorta covering them, that left the … Continue reading →
I basically said a hallelujah first before commencing the recap for episode 5 of Hyde, Jekyll, Me which was exponentially better in every way. SO GOOD, SO SO GOOD! There was romantic fanservice up the wazoo but with it came honest to goodness sparks and narrative impact. I was laughing and enjoying myself so much here that even the first four episodes … Continue reading →
I want to thank Jung Yumi for doing a fall/winter pictorial for W Korea that gives me great winter wear ideas for this season across the board. Not a single bad picture and every piece is wearable whether one is Jung Yumi level lithe and elegant or just average and wants to be both comfy and pretty. I am totally … Continue reading →
I like incremental successes more than wildly unexpected wins, mostly because it feels better earned as well as more sustainable. It’s heading into the 4th week on the big screen for winter rom-com movie Today’s Love (Love Forecast) starring Lee Seung Gi and Moon Chae Won. It’s brought in over US 13 million to date and managed to hold onto … Continue reading →
Xiao Yao often comes across as really clever, scheming and devious no less, the hardscrabble smarts of someone who’s had to survive on her own and learned all the tricks. But she selectively chooses when to apply that brain of hers, and sometimes even though the answer is clear she can be clouded by personal feeling or an unwillingness to … Continue reading →
Wahhhhh, I’m already salivating for Heard it Through the Grapevine and the drama doesn’t disappoint with the first intriguing teaser. Normally I get excited over the casting of a drama but this one has me roped in to watch PD Ahn Pan Seok‘s first prime time drama in seven years, not since the award-winning White Tower on MBC has he … Continue reading →
It’s basically make or break for Hyde, Jekyll, Me this week. It was probably that turning point for other viewers last week or even the week before during the drama’s premiere episodes but I’ve been waiting (and waiting and waiting) so long for Hyun Bin‘s drama return I’m summoning reserves of patience and optimism to see if things pick up … Continue reading →
