Sometimes I wonder if SARFT releases decrees and suggestions and the Chinese networks give a collective shrug and go back to their regularly scheduled programming. A little over a month ago SARFT issued a suggestive letter that it wished all networks aired dramas during the Summer months of July through October that promoted “the Chinese dream” (whatever that means), leading … Continue reading →
Episode 1 of Joseun Gunman (also known as Gunman in Joseon or The Joseon Shooter) is as good as I hoped it would be. It’s not perfect but hits all the right buttons for me. A fast-paced burst out of the gate sets up the story nicely and delivers plenty of visual thrills. The drama doesn’t allow any one element … Continue reading →
There are various reasons I find the impetus to recap. A burning desire to write about something whether to gush or to vent is therapeutic either way. Wanting to jot down what happened in a drama because the plot is so gosh darn interesting. A platform to screencap the heck out of a favorite actor or actress and then plaster … Continue reading →
SM Entertainment was just slapped by the Korean government for tax evasion and required to pay a chunky back tax. That’s not really a big deal as corporate tax fraud is about as prevalent as plastic surgery is over there. What’s getting people’s attention is how this news slides under the radar while the media waves are abuzz with juicy SM entertainer’s … Continue reading →
There’s cute, and there’s so sweet it gives you a toothache level cute. The three official posters for the upcoming MBC rom-com Fated to Love You fall into the latter category. I love them all! Such a great pick me up after a lackluster premiere to the rom-com Trot Lovers, reminding me that another potential rom-com crack is coming along … Continue reading →
There’s more heart surgery in episode 16 of Dr. Stranger as well as more mind numbing action and dialogue that passes for plot around them parts. So what else is new, yes? I can’t believe after today there are two more weeks and four more episodes left of this drama. What else does the writer have up his sleeve to … Continue reading →
The constant reshuffling of C-drama pairings continues and this time it’s a new pairing but one that was totally expected to happen at some point or another given the actor and actress pool in C-drama land. Wallace Chung and Tang Yan will take a shot at winning audience hearts in the upcoming C-romance drama You Are My Sunshine. That’s the … Continue reading →
It’s been a week since Gong Hyo Jin and her agency team was unexpectedly involved in an early morning car accident. The back of the van they were riding in was crushed but luckily the injuries have been mild to moderate among the passengers including a fractured arm and facial bruises for Gong Hyo Jin. She’s the leading lady of … Continue reading →
Everything has gone to pot in Dr. Stranger and yet I can’t stop watching. It’s like eating a county fair fried abomination which shouldn’t exist like a deep fried chocolate covered pickle and being unable to stop taking another bite. Even weirder is that I can’t stop writing about it, I actually have things to say about something that makes … Continue reading →
I checked out Lovers of Music (Trot Lovers) today and there was more wrong and right to make a positive first impression. On the upside being a rom-com is like an oasis in the parched desert right now so I’ll probably check out tomorrow’s episode to see if it flips the switch. I enjoy trot music enough that the musical … Continue reading →
The Wed-Thurs time slot has been devoid of a K-drama that really connects with me ever since Miss Korea wrapped up. Many were watchable like A New Leaf or Sly and Single Again, and others totally a pass such as Golden Cross or Three Days. I had hoped You’re All Surrounded would live up to the hype but its sadly lived … Continue reading →
I’m still staying away from Fall in Love with Me with Aaron Yan and Tia Li after a terrible first episode (IMO) and lackluster follow up episodes that left me floundering for any reason to keep watching when I couldn’t stand Tia’s acting. The lure might just be here in the recent promotion that Aaron and Tia went on for … Continue reading →
Leave it TW-dramas to allow the drama leading lady an official reason to grope her abtastic leading man’s bare chest in broad daylight. The look on Puff Guo‘s face as she’s stripping off Liu Yi Hao‘s shirt? That’s the natural expression from all ladies who appreciate a nicely rendered gorgeous male form, even Lene Lai is all like “can I touchy … Continue reading →
