The long-awaited sequel to Bu Bu Jing Xin has finally finished airing and it’s safe to say the collectively consciousness is going to scrub all traces of Bu Bu Jing Qing from our memories. I left my BBJQ updates hanging once the drama started airing since it was impossible to formulate a coherent sentence when watching episode 1 alone was … Continue reading →
There is a very pithy saying that the readers of Tong Hua novels have coined and it kills me each time to hear it repeated. “There was Xiang Liu in ancient times of gods and demons, he was reincarnated into Meng Jiu in historical times, only to end up as Lu Li Cheng in modern day.” I’ve read all three … Continue reading →
Goodness does the production for Bu Bu Jing Qing really know how to milk the Bu Bu Jing Xin feels. I freaking love this new drama poster! As the long-awaited sorta-sequel gets ready to premiere next Tuesday April 22nd, the promotional materials are starting to snowball and I’m being judicious about what I pluck out lest I get steamrolled by … Continue reading →
I think it’s such a happy coincidence that I’m translating Tong Hua‘s fantasy romance novel Lost You Forever right now, reminding me daily of all the things I love about her writing which all started with her first novel Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Each Step). It’s her most famous work to-date and likely deserves all the affection it gets. … Continue reading →
I’m not trying to be coy whenever people ask me when Bu Bu Jing Qing will air since the darn thing hasn’t been able to confirm a premiere date until now. This modern C-drama is the cinematic sequel to the blockbuster period drama Bu Bu Jing Xin (based on the same name Tong Hua novel), which feels like another lifetime ago … Continue reading →
Talk about putting the skeptics and naysayers to rest with one very heartwarming cross-straits trip. TW-actor Nicky Wu brought his C-actress girlfriend and frequent co-star Liu Shi Shi to Taiwan last week to spend Lunar New Year in his hometown. They visited his parents as well as spent time with people who are like an extended family to Nicky. Above … Continue reading →
Last week was the first ever Sina hosted Weibo Night 2013 to hand out awards to C-celebrities who have lit up China’s most popular online social networking service akin to a combination Facebook and Twitter. Even among a bevy of popular stars it was hands down the joint appearance of recently gone public couple of Nicky Wu and Liu Shi … Continue reading →
This week was the Baidu Fei Dian Awards in Beijing and in attendance was yet another huge collection of actors and actresses from not just China but all over Asia. One of the most anticipated appearances was of the newly minted couple of Nicky Wu and Liu Shi Shi. They did not disappoint fans with their joint appearance at the … Continue reading →
Rising C-actress Liu Shi Shi continues to go down the list of gorgeous and talented TW-actor co-stars like you wouldn’t believe. I love some more than others but she hasn’t hit upon a total fail yet. She continues that trend and now pulls in a J-actor to boot – up next for Shi Shi is co-starring with Joseph Chang (Drunken … Continue reading →
More and more C-actresses having been hitting up the most prestigious Fall fashion weeks in Paris and New York in the last few years. I didn’t really follow along since their front row fashion is really hit and miss. I’ve watched Liu Shi Shi slowly climb the C-acting ladder since she was a wee lass playing supporting roles in Tangren … Continue reading →
Forget how shocking the news of Nicky Wu and Liu Shi Shi dating a good two plus years after they first co-starred in Bu Bu Jing Xin together. I vividly remember the drama casting backlash – Nicky too old and ugly, Kevin too old and ugly, Shi Shi not enough screen presence to play Ruo Xi, why is Yuan Hong … Continue reading →
Oh. My. God. I confess to never thinking this could even be possible, and rather laughed that so many 4th Prince-Ruo Xi shippers in Bu Bu Jing Xin transferred their romance to the lead actors Nicky Wu (Wu Qi Long) and Liu Shi Shi. I may be a HongShi shipper but the LongShi fans always seemed a ship far off … Continue reading →
Warning. Do not click on this post and watch this MV unless you have tissues ready and don’t have an appointment tomorrow. In all my years of drama watching, the time-travel C-drama Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Each Step) adapted from the same name novel by writer Tong Hua is easily one of the most tear-inducing watch experiences I’ve … Continue reading →
