I was nearly bored to giving up on TW-dramas this year in 2016, the only one I finished entirely was Love @ Seventeen with Lego Lee and Nikki Hsieh. The depressed ratings for domestic dramas speaks the same for audiences but viewers still want to watch dramas as evidenced by the surge in ratings for K-dramas broadcast in Taiwan television. The highest rated K-drama in Taiwan this year was the same as all across Asia – Descendants of  the Sun brought in viewers and reportedly spurred on an uptick of interest in K-dramas on the island. Funnily enough, the second highest rated drama broadcast in 2016 was an oldie as The Master’s Sun still managed to notch the second highest ratings on its 4th re-broadcast on Taiwanese TV.
