Wow, consider me surprised by how quickly the new tvN weekend drama is doing well. Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born premiered on Saturday with 4.844% ratings and has nearly doubled the next day with episode 2 bringing in 8.216%. This is incredible and kudos to Kim Tae Ri for once again delivering on both quality and ratings and showing her … Continue reading →
I still remember when the Korea Drama Awards started and it seemed like a joke but now it’s been 15 years and still going strong as part of the annual Korea Drama Festival. It’s also good that it happens in the fall as an outlier as the prestigious awards are usually in the spring while the network prizes are awarded … Continue reading →
It’s been a mixed bag for me with it comes to top K-actress Song Hye Kyo and her long running brand association with Italian couture house Fendi. Sometimes the clothes look too heavy and dark on her but this week new pictures with her attending the Fendi show in Italy and showcasing the brand’s fall new looks hits a homerun … Continue reading →
October 2024 is fast becoming loaded with new period C-dramas. Last week there was Snowy Night Timeless Love with Li Qin and Zeng Shun Xi and also The Rise of Ning with Zhang Wan Yi and Ren Min. Next week is reportedly Kill Me Love Me with Liu Xue Yi and Wu Jin Yan. There may be more but the … Continue reading →
This weekend is the premiere of new Sat-Sun drama Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born taking over for Love Next Door. So complaining by fans does work lol, but at least gets some adjustments made. Fans of Dilraba Dilmurat went on an angry online attack last month when the first filming pictures came out from the set of xianxia C-drama Love Beyond the Grave showing her with heavy makeup and overly ornate costumes and excessive accessories. Her fans were pissed at … Continue reading →
It’s been a nostalgic week for fans of the beloved Legend of the Condor Heroes 2008 version, which is a few years will be twenty (!!!) years old. Male lead Hu Ge reunited with his two female leads Ariel Lin and Liu Shi Shi in the same week but in different places. Four days ago Hu Ge took home Best … Continue reading →
I’m so happy to hear news of an upcoming K-drama for Kim Yoo Jung, and it sounds interesting to boot. She’s been offered the female lead in sageuk drama 100 Days of Lies, a drama where she plays Gyeongseong the capital city’s best pickpocket. After getting involved with the independence movement, she goes undercover in the Joseon city government as … Continue reading →
I love when the meta becomes a real life conversation topic, so it’s fun hearing K-actor Kim Dong Jun, who started out as an idol in the stacked group that is ZE:A, discuss the common observation that he looks just like actress Han Ga In. Her real name is actually Kim Hyun Joo so I still think there is a … Continue reading →
I feel like Tang Yan and her next drama Lady Liberty is trying to capture the same hit and zeitgeist that Crystal Liu did with her The Tale of Rose, big name female lead centric with multiple big name male leads in sectional stories woven through her life. Nothing wrong with that and it’s nice to have her get her … Continue reading →
While there aren’t as many K-dramas being produced as before and frankly most are just not that interesting to me, I am fully intending to watch SBS drama The Judge From Hell but just haven’t had the time to start yet. So it’s a relief to hear the drama with strong word of mouth and even better progressively increasing ratings. … Continue reading →
C-actress Wang Yu Wen is turning into a modern light drama hitmakers, and worth it for production companies as she’s not A-list so her salary isn’t astronomical and she takes mid-budget projects and delivers financial wins for the investors thanks to good viewership. Her recent modern drama You Are My Lover Friend (舍不得星星) with Zhang Xin Cheng just ended this … Continue reading →
Well anyone can have a bad hair/outfit/makeup day and I’ll chalk up K-actor Lee Min Ho‘s this weekn public appearance as one of those days. The actor attending a VIP movie premiere for the thriller Korean movie A Normal Family this week and got a lot of attention for the wrong reasons. His outfit was boring and ill fitting to … Continue reading →
