While attention right now is naturally on premiering soon high profile K-dramas Memories of Alhambra and Encounter (Boyfriend), coming in early 2019 is a fully pre-produced drama that I’m also excited for namely Vagabond with Lee Seung Gi and Suzy. The leads have been filming in Morocco over a month and Lee Seung Gi posted on his SNS pictures of … Continue reading →
The first teaser and lots of promos are out for upcoming SBS weekend drama Fate and Furies which actually looks surprisingly fantastic. I love the melodramatic moody vibe, it’s intensely dark and makjang romantic, sort of like a non-cheating mc-cheaterson version of Temptation. She’s poor and scrappy trying to escape a shitting life situation, he’s rich and they get involved … Continue reading →
The punny title of Bok Soo is Back (i.e. Revenge is Back) has now morphed into the rather bland English title of My Strange Hero which seems neither here nor there. But the casting remains legit awesome with cutie pie Yoo Seung Ho continuing in his rom-com streak after I am Not a Robot and this time he gets Jo … Continue reading →
The 2018 Elle Style Awards took place in Seoul this week and the red carpet was mostly black with a smattering of red, with one starlet in red especially a memorable standout. Best dressed for me was Son Ye Jin, she stuck with her usual style of elegant and feminine and her one shoulder black column gown with a giant … Continue reading →
Another K-awards ceremony came and went and this one was decided low key being from the Korean Film Critics Association but the winners merit a mention. It’s pretty serendipitous and likely a good sign that upcoming K-drama Brilliant costars Han Ji Min and Nam Joo Hyuk were winners, her as Best Actress for Miss Baek and him as Best New Actor … Continue reading →
There are two sageuk zombie projects slated for year end 2018 and the first to arrive was the movie Rampant (Outbreak) with Hyun Bin and Jang Dong Gun which premiered first in the box office but has since then petered out and will likely net less than it’s $15 million budget domestically and will need international and streaming sales later … Continue reading →
I love how C-netizens excited about upcoming tvN drama Encounter (literal title Boyfriend) keeps referring to male lead Park Bo Gum as “your boyfriend”. So if there is anything new about him for the drama, C-nets adorably tells female leadSong Hye Kyo that “your boyfriend” did something, such as telling her that “your boyfriend cut his hair!” in the latest … Continue reading →
The passing of HK-actress Yammie Lam really hit home how prolific and incredible the 80’s and 90’s of HK-ent was in the depth and breadth of acting talent and project successes. She may have fallen victim to the dark side of the industry but HK cinema remains the trailblazer of Asian film so it’s such a well-deserved honor to see … Continue reading →
The second part of the Chinese government crack down on celebrity earnings is now in effect. The first part was investigation and self-reporting of tax evasion with the biggest scapegoat being top actress Fan Bing Bing, you fly the highest then you’re the first to be shot down. The second part requires that stars and production companies cap salaries going … Continue reading →
The current SBS Mon-Tues Drama Where Stars Land (Fox Star Bride) is doing decent in ratings and reception and the network will take a shot detour after the drama ends with a 3-episode special drama called Hymn of Death (Death Song) that looks period romantic and sadness guaranteed. Based on the real life of Korea’s first soprano pop songstress who … Continue reading →
Since the romance premise of Clean With Passion For Now has the opposites attract setup, perhaps it’s actually a fitting casting to pair up hulking Yoon Kyun Sang with petite Kim Yoo Jung giving us the visual disparity along with their personality extremes. He’s a clean freak and she’s cheerfully messy, and I sure hope it’s just that and not … Continue reading →
I’m loving Lee Jun Ki‘s total look from last week when he left Incheon airport to head to Hong Kong for a brand promotional event. His hair is growing up and he’s paired it up playfully with a full on long coat, shirt, and pants combo that screams trendy young professor and I totally dig it! The spectacles finish the … Continue reading →
C-actress Yang Mi has for a long time now gained a reputation as Wang Fu (aka Chinese slang for making one’s husband more successful). The phrase is applied to any woman toi marries a man and thereafter he remains/gets more successful, someone she’s given credit for not fucking up his life. For Chinese and Taiwanese actresses, the notion of Wang … Continue reading →
