One woah momma isn’t enough for the just released official movie trailer for this Summer’s epic two-part sequel to the blockbuster and critically well-reviewed Rurouni Kenshin movie. It was a no-brainer for the studio to green light a sequel almost immediately after the movie opened to stellar reception both domestically in Japan as wells as overseas. What was unexpected was … Continue reading →
This chapter of Lost You Forever finally feels like a chance for a fresh start for Xiao Yao. Of course I love her with the three guys who love her, kind patient Jing, volatile perplexing Xiang Liu, and constant oppa Zhuan Xu. From the moment the books start she’s always been tied up with one or more of the men … Continue reading →
The pleasure of watching Kang Ji Hwan act is magnified by how gorgeous this man is. Sometimes it’s easy to forget because he gets so into character and some of his characters are not all that attractively styled. When he’s let out of a role, he returns to being the stylish and chic man’s man he is in real life … Continue reading →
All of TW-drama land feels so lugubrious lately. There is a snail’s pace crawl in both currently airing and upcoming dramas, some of which are not bad but nothing that drives me rabid with want. Pleasantly Surprised (Love Myself or You) is solid and sweet but I’m still getting up the impetus to write about it in any way, shape, … Continue reading →
Looks like Temptation isn’t tempting enough for the lovely Yoon Eun Hye and ultimately she’s passed on the upcoming SBS drama. I keep wanting to call it a melodrama but the production hasn’t officially called it such. It’s the story of a married man who accepts an offer from a very rich woman who doesn’t believe in love. He hands … Continue reading →
In honor of Yang Jin Sung stealing my heart in Bride of the Century, I thought it nice to showcase this relatively unknown actress who has shot through the stardom roof with her titular turn as a curse-breaking bride. I confess to watching most of City Hunter and her not leaving an impression on me, and I did watch all … Continue reading →
Summer is typically the season for more supernatural fare on television and theaters in Asia what with the lunar month of August having a Asian cultural association with ghost month. Two years ago Arang and the Magistrate hit the airwaves in August, and last year we had Who Are You and The Master’s Sun all being late Summer dramas. This … Continue reading →
You’re All Surrounded is like bland white rice, filling but tasteless unless eaten with flavorful dishes. The bland is the story and execution and the tasty comes in the form of the actors and actresses that are easy on the eyes and doing their jobs with steady professionalism. With the episode airing delays and now the injury to leading man Lee … Continue reading →
The Wed-Thurs primetime slot is always the buzziest in K-drama land and the upcoming Summer face-off is going to be a doozy indeed. There is action sageuk Joseon Gunman, rom-com hijinks in Fated to Love You, and currently the drama getting the least attention is the quietly filming psychiatry romance It’s Okay, It’s Love. The Noh Hee Kyung-penned drama was … Continue reading →
I’m taking a fifty thousand feet high up approach when viewing the upcoming ambitious cable network tvN sageuk drama Three Musketeers. It is indeed an adaptation of the classic French novel into a Joseon era story involving a crown prince and his swashbuckling brethren and comes from the screenwriter behind cult favorites Nine: Nine Times Travel and Queen In Hyun’s … Continue reading →
It will be a travesty of everything good in drama land if Joseon Gunman turns out to be a dud after dropping the most ridiculously gorgeous and eye-catching promotional materials in all of K-drama fare this year. I suppose the consolation prize is knowing that even if the drama sucks leading man Lee Jun Ki will be bringing it in … Continue reading →
I still remember the first time I heard Park Shin Hye sing. It was five years ago in episode 1 of You’re Beautiful and she was auditioning in lieu of her twin brother character for a boy band even though she was a novice nun. The drama was more entertaining than her singing was memorable but she did contribute tracks … Continue reading →
Dr. Stranger challenges me as a recapper to find new and fun ways to describe how random, repetitive, and/or wildly ridiculous it is. Today’s episode was like the best of all three of its fatal flaws combined into one handy dandy nugget. The will he operate-won’t he operate mind-changing over the first operation battle in episodes 8 literally got a … Continue reading →
