The upcoming KBS drama Advertising Genius Lee Tae Baek barely garnered any interest from me when the leads were confirmed last week as Jin Goo (who I last saw when he was a child actor in All In as the child counterpart of Lee Byung Hun) and Park Ha Sun (adore her but not enough to watch a drama just … Continue reading →
This episode was slightly better in pacing and execution than the previous episode 11 but the fundamental flaw in the narrative direction leaves this drama still coming across as missing the forest for the trees. I like Black Se Kyung, I like her way better than Candy mopey Se Kyung, but right now her actions are premised on a very … Continue reading →
Let’s see Vic Zhou‘s agent try to explain away this one, because if Zai Zai takes to back hugging, snuggling, and whispering in the ear of all his “close friends”, then clearly I am missing out here. Of the entire gorgeous cast of Black & White (Zai Zai, Mark Chao, Ivy Chen, Janine Chang, Sonia Sui, Reen Yu, and Xiu … Continue reading →
I started recapping episode 11 of Cheongdamdong Alice when 10 minutes in I almost couldn’t go on. How could I keep recapping when this drama hardly makes any sense to me anymore. It’s not completely nonsensical but there are so many loopy and extreme elements, not to mention coincidences and near misses it stretches my credulity to the point I can’t … Continue reading →
So K-ent has been awash in just the first twelve days of 2013 alone with a veritable avalanche of hook ups and break ups, as if some tricksy elf spiked the water supply in Yeouido and Chungmuro with love potion. The biggest “OMG I Can’t Believe They’re Dating” moment (not to be confused with “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter”) came … Continue reading →
It feels like ages since I last saw Nicky Wu and Liu Shi Shi together in a public event, and when I checked the date I realized it has indeed been over a year since 4th Prince and Ruo Xi had the opportunity to grace us with their presence together. Since finishing Bu Bu Jing Xin back in early 2011, … Continue reading →
How cute are they together? This isn’t even a bromance proper since So Ji Sub is so much older than Yoo Seung Ho, though I suppose they can be considered a bromance in one way since So Ji Sub appears to be trying to live younger with attempting to launch a rap career in his mid-30s whereas Yoo Seung Ho … Continue reading →
Forget like, this is 100% unbridled love love love! The Bu Bu Jing Xin gang, still waiting for Tangren‘s ladyboss to put her money where her mouth is and actually start filming the long touted modern sequel to that drama, has been busy buzzing up weibo with cute getogethers, bromancy bickering and flirting, and set visits to share the love. … Continue reading →
I don’t know how Taiwan dramas move so fast when it comes to filming. The TW-version of You’re Beautiful started filming late last year and already a 3-minute teaser is out. Starring Jiro Wang and newbie Su Li Wen (who reminds me of a cross between Joanne Zheng and young Ariel Lin), this version comes a year after Japan already … Continue reading →
Dur, I’m kinda not liking how the story is progressing in Cheongdamdong Alice based on the previews. Of course once the episode airs it might make sense, but to be honest I felt like episodes 9 and 10 continued to lack the zip of the earlier episodes. It’s probably due to Se Kyung spending a good chunk of both episodes … Continue reading →
Now that Flower Boy Next Door is off to a solid start, the rest of the first half of 2013 is shaping up with a diverse bucket of dramas that I am mostly curious about but not necessarily all that rabid to watch (That Winter, The Wind Blows, IRIS 2, The Incarnation of Money). I’m sure another K-drama will come … Continue reading →
The new Sunday night SETTV drama premiered this past weekend and I actually was interested enough by the previews to check it out. The hilariously named King Flower (whut?) better known as 金大花的華麗冒險 (Jin Da Hua’s Extravagant Adventure) didn’t have the ratings lure in Roy Qiu so its premiere episode was the nightly leader but dropped down to 1.26 from … Continue reading →
Has it really been almost a year since Ethan Ruan was shipped off to the army? Ethan arguably left at the height of his career, with both critical and commercial success in the pocket. He won a Best Actor Golden Horse award for Monga, then starred in the box office hit LOVE with a large contingent of Chinese and Taiwanese … Continue reading →
