When I first heard about May Queen, it sounded like a potential Giant. It’s not, it’s stupid beyond belief. It could be stupid and sprawling like East of Eden, but it isn’t either. The whole poor girl destined to reach ship building greatness feels pretty small-scale so far, and the amount of beyond ridiculous machinations of the bad guys to … Continue reading →
Episode 9 of Miss Rose managed to throw me for a loop despite how predictable this drama has been since it started. I’ve been liking its predictability which has been delivered in ways that are amusing and interesting. But now I don’t quite know what to expect because the OTP is side-stepping some crucial decisions when really everyone ought to … Continue reading →
When Rich Man, Poor Woman aired, I was totally cringing when I saw Oguri Shun‘s hairstyle. Mind you, this man hasn’t had a decent hairstyle in any of his previous dramas, even Tokyo Dogs because the crew cut doesn’t do him justice, so RMPW was actually continuing a long tradition of uglifying Shun. I have this theory that it might … Continue reading →
Oh Hua Shi, you guys are just a bunch of asses. Just because you can’t win legitimately doesn’t mean you go crapping in TTV’s pond. CTS has been the bottom of the barrel on Sunday night ratings for quite some time, which totally is well deserved since its last three dramas were the painfully plodding Alice in Wonder City, the … Continue reading →
The first character stills are out for the upcoming jTBC cable drama Can We Get Married? The drama stars Lee Mi Sook as a career woman matriarch with two daughters, the eldest is married to a doctor while the youngest is a teacher preparing for her upcoming wedding. The drama revolves around four couples who are either married and going … Continue reading →
I love Gong Hyo Jin – she melts into any role and does fashion like its nobody’s business. She’s self-assured without being brash, a type of quiet confidence in her own style and acting choices that’s really commendable in a world where everyone strives to fit certain images of what is attractive. It’s been over a year since she was … Continue reading →
When I heard of the concept and later saw the stills and trailer for the upcoming movie A Werewolf Boy with Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Young, the first thing to pop into my (and likely a lot of other people’s) mind was Edward Scissorhands. Its still a fantastic movie even nearly twenty years later, because the themes of … Continue reading →
I’m trying to figure out if this is a sign that I need to pick back up my Black & White recaps. In the heated Summer of 2012, one co-star after another in B&W have either gone public in relationships or been caught out with new loves in pretty hard to refute photographic evidence. First came Mark Chao, now confirmed … Continue reading →
Saying goodbye to a drama I hate is a feeling of relief. Saying farewell to a drama I felt indifferent towards is like scratching an itch. Putting away a drama that is near and dear to my heart is a process of baby steps, weaning myself off the euphoric high watching the drama brings. Because I know there isn’t going … Continue reading →
Is my love for Shin Won Ho so inexplicable and random? Probably, since pretty idol boys are a dime a dozen and frankly he’s really not all that pretty or idol-y (I find Cross Gene the group ridiculously silly and terrible). I also worry that he’s so young and ICOMYM goes only so far in justifying one’s love for age-inappropriate … Continue reading →
Awwww man, I love Miss Rose too much for my own good. At this point the drama is heading well into meaty emotional territory with a love triangle fraught with the leading lady having feelings for both guys, plus an extra wheel of a future fiancee lurking to the side. If this was a K-drama, we’d be having massive stare … Continue reading →
I’ve been rabidly following along with the filming of the upcoming period C-drama King of Lan Ling because I desperately need a good period wuxia-esque fare like you wouldn’t believe. Imagine being deprived of one particular food item for a long time and you know the feeling. Starring Feng Shao Feng, Ariel Lin, and Daniel Chan, the drama wrapped filming … Continue reading →
Oh boy, this is…..interesting. I think we might have an actual competition for the worst-wig-of-the-year award, when I had thought nothing could ever come close to the “thing” that rests on top of Yoo Seung Ho‘s head in Arang and the Magistrate. Sometimes when a scene comes on with the Celestial Jade Emperor I subconsciously cringe because I’m afraid his … Continue reading →
