I find myself watching in wonder and amazement at how Nice Guy (The Innocent Man) builds its story. Like the bible song says, the wise man builds his house upon the rocks while the foolish man builds his house upon the sand, and here Lee Kyung Hee is setting down boulders to build this story upon. I’m feeling ever more … Continue reading →
Sometimes I wonder what would have happened to Jang Geun Seok‘s career had he not starred in You’re Beautiful. That drama may have tanked in domestic ratings, but was a raging overseas success that catapulted Jang Geun Seok into widespread recognition. It also introduced the world to crazy hair/attire Jang Geun Seok, a sort of cross between a Johnny and … Continue reading →
I love Eun Gi in Nice Guy. Her badassery is totally warranted and completely understandable. Her life sucks. Aside from having money, she has nothing else. No true family to speak of, no friends, no one she can trust. That’s a horrible way to go through life, when even poor people are happier to have less material things but more … Continue reading →
Will it be three times the charm for what is now confirmed as the three peat performance of Jang Hyuk and Lee Da Hae trying to not die onscreen when acting opposite one another. Hyukie’s bitten the bullet twice now with Da Hae, and with my luck, she’ll probably be the one to kick the bucket in the upcoming IRIS … Continue reading →
Okay, it’s official. Nice Guy (The Innocent Man) rocks my world. This drama is more than I expected and everything I hoped for. The story is nothing new, but how it comes together is utterly captivating. I’m already rooting for Eun Gi and Maru to team up and destroy everyone loathsome around them. And then go make happy babies far away from … Continue reading →
CTS network’s self-financed daily drama Inborn Pair was such a hit last year the network is continuing to produce its own fare. IP really skyrocketed Chris Wang and Annie Chen‘s acting career, and I think it was well deserved because the drama was sweet and simple and the two leads had lovely and fun chemistry with each other. I liked … Continue reading →
My Office Girls recapping project is one where I have promised to finish and I know the raw files for the last two episodes are still sitting there just reminding me of what a slacker I am. Even as I’m addicted to Miss Rose and have completely disassociated Roy Qiu as Gao Cheng Kuan from his character of Qin Zi … Continue reading →
Hallelujah the ignition has started! Episode 8 of Miss Rose revved up this baby with a monstrous vroom, telling us that all the great set up is starting to go places. At this point, MR has moved completely away from any tonal or narrative resemblance to Office Girls, despite the initial similarities in the office environment setting. This drama has taken … Continue reading →
Drama casting say whut? A few days ago Taewon Entertainment (my archenemy after producing the truly horrendous Athena: Goddess of War, which wasted my I Lub You plus a bevy of other awesome actors) released news that its still planning to produce IRIS 2, which I kinda thought Athena was supposed to be, but now I’ve learned that there will … Continue reading →
Nice Guy is off like the start of a roller coaster ride, currently taking all the viewers on the slow but steady upward climb with everyone knowing and anticipating the drop sure to come. I liked that the drama started so quickly without doing a linear recitation of the events which led up to characters making tough decisions, like how … Continue reading →
I haven’t done a live airing baby recap since Lie to Me ended, because rarely does a drama ever beckon me to break from routine and have the urge to get a recap, ANY recap, out as soon as possible. Rich Man, Poor Woman episode 11 has done it, baby. This dorama has managed to end utterly perfectly, leaving me … Continue reading →
It’s so weird to see something that could have been, especially since what ended up being is airing right now. Faith is currently doing steady early teen ratings for SBS on Mon-Tues, but the drama was originally envisioned as something much different than the Lee Min Ho and Kim Hee Sun incarnation. The Korean title for the drama was always … Continue reading →
This post is really intended for folks who (1) loved Lie to Me (and likely watched alongside me during what was the craziest days ever here at the Playground) and/or (2) are HwanHye shippers. Chingus, I am here to announced that, courtesy of @HallyuYoonEunHye and the never before seen BTS videos of the filming of LTM, we can all relive … Continue reading →
