So Vic Zhou turned 31 last week, and with it comes the first visual confirmation that he is in fact dating his Black & White co-star Reen Yu. The tabloids have been buzzing that Zai Zai was Reen’s boyfriend since earlier this year when she was overheard talking about her boyfriend, an A-list actor who drove a blue Ferrari. When … Continue reading →
After percolating for the past year, SM Entertainment has finally finalized the cast for its adaptation of Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (Hana Kimi) which is called To the Beautiful You. The cast is a combination of two idols in the lead, Sulli from f(x) playing the role of Ashiya Mizuki and Minho from SHINee as Sano Izumi, plus two young actors … Continue reading →
Next week is the premiere of SETTV‘s new 9 pm daily drama called Gong Hay Fat Choy (if you’re Cantonese, I don’t need to explain this to you). The Chinese title is 我們發財了 (literal translation is we got rich), and the English translation is the Cantonese greeting during Chinese New Year wishing folks prosperity and wealth (means congratulations on getting … Continue reading →
First off – what’s with the repeated and constant speculation that Kyung Joon is Yoon Jae’s son? Please check the character chart before launching into such ridiculousness, because the dudes are twelve years apart. So unless we’re going into Kanon territory here, Yoon Jae didn’t impregnate a lady when he was 11 (plus the gestational 10 month, no?). I’m having … Continue reading →
I’m not sure why tvN scheduled a week break between the end of Queen In Hyun’s Man and the premiere of its follow up drama I Need Romance 2012, but that just leaves us with another week until INR2 hits the screens. Starring quirky and loveable Jung Yumi, stiff and charming Lee Jin Wook, and rascally Kim Ji Seok, INR2 … Continue reading →
I keep watching the end of episode 4 of Big over and over again. Kyung Jae’s run to stop Da Ran from using the key was so heartwarming and sweet, but I finally get to applaud Da Ran for stepping up and confronting hard truths. I get that she’s dense, trusting, and rather naive, but at least now I know … Continue reading →
Ahhhh, the world might not be ready for sageuk Lee Min Ho. I imagine fursploding panties everywhere as his fangirls collectively…..faint over his warrior ways sporting a mane of glory, all-black armor, and wielding a mighty sword. It’s weird but I kinda wish Faith was a straight up sageuk rather than a time-travel one, not only because its so passe … Continue reading →
If I wasn’t already rabid for Big, this episode would have turned the switch for me. It’s the one where all the first deeper stirrings of emotional connection between the OTP is triggered, where you see that they genuinely care about each other’s well being. What always sells a couple for me is when they care about how the other … Continue reading →
Chun Jung Myung and Ivy Chen could quite possibly be the two cutest actors in their respective industries, so seeing them embracing pretty much exponentially explodes the adorableness factor until all I see is a puppy cuddling with a kitten. The filming continues on the C-drama The Family, which is actually directed by Korean PD Choi Yoon Seok (Glass Slippers), and … Continue reading →
One thing that’s hard for me when watching Big is that I miss chibi-Kyung Joon so much. Shin Won Ho may not have one-tenth the acting prowess of Gong Yoo, who is nailing it as Kyung Jae, but I loved his posturing bickering with Da Ran. At this rate, I’m going to have an internal shipping battle between Kyung Joon … Continue reading →
Squeeee to the max! Episode 3 of Big was good, great, and stupendous all wrapped into one. I love this drama so much its embarrassing to acknowledge. I’m on a business trip so this recap will be short on thoughts but its really hard for me to stop myself from writing about this drama. I love how Kyung Jae and … Continue reading →
I think my most anticipated period C-drama this year is definitely King of Lan Ling with Feng Shao Feng and Ariel Lin. I like frothy romance driven period fare, and this one looks pretty epic. Plus the King of Lan Ling hasn’t been brought to the screen often so it’ll be a refreshing story for me. After reading and translating … Continue reading →
Yipppeeeee! I knew birthdays and anniversaries have always been good to me. This past week SETTV started filming its upcoming idol drama to follow Love Forward on Sundays starting in August. All the rumors turned out to be spot on, as the leading man will indeed be Roy Qiu, returning to the network that has launched and propelled his Taiwan … Continue reading →
