I know I have it bad when I go to sleep thinking about a drama and wake up thinking about the same drama. I enjoy being surprised, and The King 2 Hearts was completely a surprise in how much it works for be. The romance feels palpable, the politics is meaningful, and the intrigue is entertaining. This is not a … Continue reading →
In what might be a case of cinematic fiction mirroring real life, Kang Ji Hwan plays a cop pretending to be a male model in his upcoming movie Detective Cha, while he has recently become the first Korean model for the Tom Ford line of glasses. He really captures the Tom Ford aura of sexy sartorial splendor, in that distinctively … Continue reading →
Yu Zheng actually has a sense of humor. It’s evil, but hella hilarious considering he caused a near riot with his one weibo today. Yumama announced that he was making casting changes for his adaptation of The Swordsman, with Han Dong playing Dong Fang Bu Bai, Chen Qiao En playing Ren Ying Ying, and Yuan Shan Shan playing Dong Fang … Continue reading →
I couldn’t decide who this chapter belongs to more. It ought naturally be Meng Jue, but Ling gege just about broke my heart with the last line of this chapter, so both of them get to top this post. It’s double the pretty, so no one ought to complain. For all of you asking when Yun Ge will (finally) meet … Continue reading →
How did this drama fly under my radar? Oh right, working, translating, etc. The upcoming TvN drama The Wedding Scheme starring Kang Hye Jung and Lee Kyu Han premieres this Monday on the cable network, and I am seriously loving every second of the trailers and promotional material. The cast is populated with fantastic actors who can nail the comedy … Continue reading →
You know, Ti Amo Chocolate actually looks quite promising. With Inborn Pair about to wrap up its run, Ti Amo Chocolate with Vanness Wu and Joanne Zheng have released a slew of teasers that showcase a variety of moods and plot lines. Yes, there is shades of Coffee Prince with Joanne cross-dressing as a boy and the whole mistaken gender … Continue reading →
I don’t know how she does it, but Lee Min Jung always produces the best magazine spreads in the coolest places. I seriously could use a trip to a tropical paradise right about now. For the latest issue of Cosmopolitan Korea, Lee Min Jung combines a resort paradise locale with some lovely Spring fashions. I love the restrained use of … Continue reading →
This drama hurts so good. I wish I didn’t start it so I could marathon it when it’s all over, but then again, I do love an obsession. The King 2 Hearts is currently number 1 in my heart and for good reason. The chemistry is off-the-charts between Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi, I am fascinated by all … Continue reading →
The upcoming C-movie Painted Skin: The Resurrection, the sequel to 2008’s hit movie of the same name with Chen Kun, Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei finally released an official trailer as it ramps up for its June release. I’m on pins and needles, because I really enjoyed the first movie for the great chemistry and gorgeous set design, and the … Continue reading →
Before she rocketed to stardom with Office Girls, Alice Ke was actually a bona fide budding movie star in Taiwan. Much like Joseph Chang was before he became a household name after Drunken to Love You. Both have that indie cred behind them, with their drama success really the icing on the cake to their already well established film careers. … Continue reading →
It always feels nice when a reported drama casting turns out to be true, as opposed to dangling dream pairings before fans and then going “oops” afterwards. The cast of the upcoming idol period drama Lan Ling Wang (The King of Lan Ling or Masked Beauty) attended a press conference this week in Beijing to kick off filming. The two … Continue reading →
I feel like every chapter of Yun Zhong Ge is like a treasure hunt. What is happening isn’t a big moment or a gotcha scene, it’s in the exquisite details of the interactions and conversations that say so much more than it seems on the surface. We see the beginning of one couple as Liu Bing Yi and Xu Ping … Continue reading →
In my whirlwind busier than usual life last week, when I finished translating Da Mo Yao, I didn’t realize that I forgot to add a few more paragraphs to the end of the epilogue. Nothing mindblowing, but it is needed to complete the ending nevertheless. It’s been added back to the final chapter of DMY (click here to read). Since I … Continue reading →
