Fifteen years after Takahashi Rumiko finished Ranma 1/2, the story finally gets a live-action adaptation (better late than never?). As a special treat for the fans and the production, Takahashi put pencil to paper and specially drew a poster for the dorama based on the poses of the live-action cast. Gosh, that is so sweet and really apropos. The dorama … Continue reading →
Some folks have asked me if I knew where to find the Ring Ring Bell OST. I haven’t responded until now, because I was waiting for the OST to be released, which happened today. While I neither like the songs from the drama that much (I like it much better after listening to the entire OST which is just lovely), … Continue reading →
Above is the first ever official still from the set of Full House 2, the drama with more casting changes than Lady Gaga changes outfits for a concert. If you are in Tokyo, JTB is taking applications for tours it set up to visit the set of FH2 in early December, and participants can be extras and viewers for the … Continue reading →
Sometimes Office Girls reminds me of a stage play. The directing and set pieces are very rudimentary and flimsy, and the cast appears to be ad-libbing and riffing left and right. That does add a sense of spontaneity and gaiety to the proceedings, like watching a talented cast of performers with great chemistry put on a show right before your … Continue reading →
Nicky Wu has been filming a C-drama recently but he’s managed to find time to do interviews and promotions for Bu Bu Jing Xin here and there. Elle China recently interviewed him and did a photospread that I found totally perfect. I love the elegantly cut black suit and Nicky doing calligraphy for the pictures. He actually wrote the characters … Continue reading →
I don’t have enough accolades for the latest pictorials of Shin Mina for Rag & Bone. While I like R&B clothes, I think it’s overrated and passable at best. But after seeing Mina so lovely and comfy in their threads, it’s succeeded in making me covet what would otherwise be pretty ordinary clothing. I like the color photos more, which … Continue reading →
I’m sorry for doubting you, oh casting gurus for The Hunger Games. The official trailer for the movie dropped today and I’ve already watched it too many times to count. Jennifer Lawrence does make Katniss feel older than her sixteen years of age, but she’s got all her strength and vulnerability down that the age thing fades into the background … Continue reading →
Wow, this movie must’ve been filmed in 10 days or something, because it felt like the cast of Ouran High School Host Club just wrapped it’s drama and started filming the movie, and already we have a first teaser trailer dropped. The movie is coming out in March of 2012, and looks to continue the wacky and good-hearted Ouran hijinks … Continue reading →
This may be a one-off post, perhaps an ongoing series, or maybe once in a blue moon when I’m drunk and bitter. Recently I’ve been quietly watching some dramas that aren’t just bad (and stupid), it’s unbelievably so much so that I can’t even call it a guilty pleasure drama. I ended up watching these dramas for a variety of … Continue reading →
Today I started looking for Nicky’s latest album released back in September, only to randomly discover the confluence of two of things I hold near and dear. Nicholas Teo is one of my favorite Taiwan singers (though he’s originally from Malaysia). He’s not called The Prince of Ballads for nothing, and as a singer his voice, pitch, and emotion are … Continue reading →
Joe, I forgive you for the atrocity that was Channel X. So can you come back to dramas now? Hhhmmm? Since wrapping CX back in March, Joe Cheng has been laying low and occasionally popping up for endorsements here and there. I wonder if he’s on the outs with GTV after he accepted SETTV‘s CX, though I thought everyone was … Continue reading →
Wahhhhh, episode 13 of Office Girls was sooooo good. But the preview for episode 14 looks even better, with tons of new developments in many different plot threads of the story. The mood remains light and sweet, exactly what I crave these days. I suddenly realized that the OTP in OG reminds me of the OTP in ISWAK/Playful Kiss and … Continue reading →
Just two months out from it’s premiere date of January 8, the upcoming NHK Taiga for 2012 started filming last month and the first stills have started to trickle out. Starring Matsuyama Kenichi, Tamaki Hiroshi, Fujiki Naohito, Matsuda Shota, Daito Shunsuke, Okada Masaki, and Fukada Kyoko, Taira no Kiyomori tells the life of the titular general of the late Heian … Continue reading →
