The ranks of TW leading men are going to significantly dwindle in the next two years, what with some main actors bumping up against the deadline for their mandatory military service enlistment (most notably Ming Dao, Mike He, Ethan Ruan, and Joe Cheng). Jerry Yan has done his service, but conversely he’s had so few acting projects compared to his … Continue reading →
I totally need to buy a lottery ticket or something, what with my penchant for correct predictions. A few weeks ago I posted a speculation of the young actresses who could be in contention for the highly coveted lead actress role in Seasons dramas PD Yoon Seok Ho‘s upcoming drama Love Rides the Rain, which had already cast Jang Geun Seok … Continue reading →
I really applaud the actors of Spy Myung Wol for gamely soldiering on to bring this beleaguered drama to a close. It’s not easy working on a low-rated drama, and I’ve never witnessed a drama encounter such degree of behind-the-scenes turmoil. While I find the writing of SMW continuing to get wackier in the circular logic game, at least the … Continue reading →
When is Shin Mina coming back with an acting project next? She’s in every other CF out there, or so it seems like, but I’m eager to see what she does next on either the big or small screen. As an actress she’s an acquired taste for me – I much prefer her performances low key such as her personification of goodness and … Continue reading →
Do you want a Mike He for every day of the work week? Well, Semir Jeans is here to make your dreams come true. Via some photos, of course. Sheesh, you didn’t really think if you bought a pair of their jeans, they will mail you a Mike? It’s nice to see Mike get back to his modeling roots, and … Continue reading →
Looking nice, Ji Sub! For the September issue of Esquire Korea, So Ji Sub is on the cover and graces the inside pages with what appears to be a photo spread concept revolving around what I shall call geek-suit-chic. The suits don’t quite fit right, the colors are a bit off, and some styles just need a pocket protector to complete the … Continue reading →
While Koala was on vacation this August, my GeunGeun babies took a working vacation to Japan as well. Jang Geun Seok and Moon Geun Young, along with some of their Mary Stayed Out All Night co-stars, headed to Tokyo and then Osaka to put on a M3 drama concert for the fans in Japan. All together, the two concerts brought … Continue reading →
The Taiwanese entertainment is comparatively much smaller than either the Japanese or Korean counterparts, so A-list actors and actresses are pretty much always playing musical chairs in terms of pairing up for dramas and endorsements. The latest pairing puts Joe Cheng together with Cyndi Wang for the Nadia Sportswear Fall Collection. Of course, we all know Cyndi is currently heating … Continue reading →
The Beijing opera martial arts movie My Kingdom got its premiere date pushed back to September, but conversely it will be getting an international release at the same time as its domestic premiere. The production released a boatload of official stills recently that show the level of detail that went into the costumes and the set pieces for this movie. Han … Continue reading →
Writing great friendships in drama are really hard to accomplish. Most of the time it comes off as contrived, or scripted, and even worse, as unrealistic. Who talks with their friends like that? So when a rare drama friendship comes along that just works, I really cherish it. With that said, friendships needn’t be between the same sexes, and oftentimes … Continue reading →
Gah, I’m running out of superlatives when so many talented K-actresses turn models and drop gorgeous photospreads one after another. Lee Min Jung was in Paris recently for an Instyle Korea shoot. Min Jung is such a pretty baby, so effortlessly stunning. She doesn’t do haute couture poses well (unlike Han Hyo Joo who has a knack for going against … Continue reading →
2011 is turning out to be a banner year for TW-dramas. I’m not kidding, because I thought the previous two years were pretty much crap with the exception of Black & White. Whereas this year has given me three awesome TW-dramas in a row: Sunny Happiness, Drunken to Love You, and Material Queen. But it’s not done yet, because I … Continue reading →
Man, Spy Myung Wol has gone off the deep end. Even more than I thought possible or ought to. I feel like in the rush towards building up melodrama plot developments to set up an intense ending, thereby completely shucking the original tone and tenor of the drama (wacky spy antics with a cute rom-com core), the story is making … Continue reading →
