I wasn’t super interested in Hunan TV period C-drama Dancing with the Tides (何不同舟渡 He Bu Tong Zhou Du) but now seeing pictures and posters from the set it’s looking way more promising. Starring Tan Jian Ci and Lu Yu Xiao, the drama was in development for years with so many rumored leads that I was pretty meh with the … Continue reading →
The idea of a tea shop sharing complicated stories of customer lives is ripe with great vignettes to tell. That is the premise of just start filming period C-drama Tales of the Floating Life (浮生 Fu Sheng) where the proprietress demon shares her special tea which brings forth the stories of her visitors, intertwined with her own tale of love … Continue reading →
I’m so used to seeing Wang Xing Yue in period garb that I always do a double take when I see him in modern characters. He didn’t interest me in the supporting male lead role in Amidst a Snowstorm of Love when I first watched it before I became a fan and then rewatching it after his role and performance … Continue reading →
Lol, so even Chinese people think all Asians look alike haha. This is such a dumb mistake and a minor online furor but I do feel bad for actress Zhang Jing Yi. She was a guest on the variety show Hello Saturday (Hi6) this weekend and viewers noticed that a placard with her name on it had another actress Zhou … Continue reading →
A new C-drama is premiering this weekend with A Splendid Match (良陈美锦 Liang Chen Mei Jin) airing on Hunan TV and streaming on MangoTV. Starring Ren Min and Ci Sha, the drama set up reminds me of The Rise of Ning and Si Jin in that slow burn intrigue with family dynamics and politic plotting with two smart lead characters. … Continue reading →
I loved the first two episodes of Perfect Crown but a lot of that was just lowered expectations and giving the drama the benefit of the doubt during the set up phase. But since then each episode has just lessened my interest and excitement with now midway through airing episode 6 last week left me rather cold. The ratings have … Continue reading →
I liked but didn’t fully love K-drama Yumi’s Cells, and I probably appreciate what it was trying to more than the actual characterizations and romance lines appealing to me personally. It’s basically a trilogy in female lead Yumi’s love life and the first two books are heartfelt journeys with unfinished endings, which is realistic but doesn’t deliver on the feel … Continue reading →
Another April 2026 premiered C-drama wrapped its run this week with xianxia Veil of Shadows heading into forgettable projects territory after it’s airing. No matter how much changes in C-drama production many things remain the same. Recently the upcoming period C-drama Spring of the Blade (一瓯春 Yi Ou Chun) finished filming last year and is on deck for release in the second half of this year. Starring Xu Kai and Zhou Ye, the drama recently got its maybe dirty laundry aired by upset … Continue reading →
So this one has been making the casting rumor this week in C-ent and seems to have a high likelihood of coming to fruition. C-actress Zhao Lu Si is reportedly going to do the Hunan TV modern romance and female empowerment C-drama As Beautiful as You as her next project and the first acting role since her medical hiatus plus … Continue reading →
So this may be the last C-drama to drop before April 2026 ends and it arrive in that air drop stealth mode when you know the platform is just wanting to recoup costs and not drop more on promos lol. Fate Chooses You (佳偶天成 Jia Ou Tian Cheng) with Allen Ren and Wang He Run has arrived in what could … Continue reading →
So I think Gucci did this intentionally, and probably to create more buzz through conflict. Song Wei Long and Zhang Ling He have very similar acting and visual images in C-ent and both are brand ambassadors for Gucci in China. Last week Song Wei Long had a new campaign released for Gucci that immediately caused Zhang Ling He’s fandom to … Continue reading →
I can’t say this is a surprise, the pressure to be thin in entertainment is across the board in every single country in every medium. But for C-actress Song Zu Er, already every skinny and petite to begin with, her latest look at a Valentine brand media even this week has everyone buzzing with concern. C-netizens are calling her “a … Continue reading →
