So it’s probably going to be a wash when currently airing K-drama Perfect Crown wraps in terms of how it affects the career of leads IU and Byun Woo Seok. The drama isn’t a flop and is doing okay in ratings and buzz but it’s not the hit that the big budget, promos, and popularity of the leads should have … Continue reading →

What was a great night for Korea’s top movie and drama awards for the 2026 Baeksang Awards has led to an unfortunate negative chatter. There is a bit of shuffling with dramas that were slated to start filming, as usual nothing in C-ent is set until close to production kicking off in earnest. Wang An Yu was supposed to do A Journey to Glow but when female lead Yu Shu Xin was removed the drama has since languished in finalizing funding. He’s now going … Continue reading →
The popularity of female lead reborn to enact revenge or re-do her life novels means there are plenty of such source material for adaptations, and actresses remain vying for such roles for a chance to deliver a memorable hit. May 2026 has been off to an uneventful start, the only new drama arrival with A Splendid Match with Ren Min and Ci Sha reportedly a splendid bore. So I’ve not watched a J-dorama in years but one of the last ones I watched was Unnatural back in 2018 starring Ishihara Satomi. It’s a forensic drama that has a clinical emotionless female lead tackling weird deaths with seemingly natural element but in truth has unnatural causes that she needs to solve. A K-drama adaptation was announced in 2022 … Continue reading →

So I’m not one to jump on the Zhang Ling He criticism bandwagon for looking too pretty boy and clean as a general in C-drama Pursuit of Jade. There were plenty such flower boy actors in similar visuals for such roles in recent years so it’s not like he’s an outlier, he was just sitting at the wrong place wrong … Continue reading →
