It’s been a weird run with both SBS drama Why Her (Why Oh Soo Jae) and MBC drama Doctor Lawyer. Both are legal dramas though the latter dealt with medical malpractice specifically. It’s that there was A-list headlining but neither ended up delivering on the ratings or buzz. Why Her had the traction early on hitting 10.1% by episode 4 … Continue reading →
Facial injuries are especially no bueno for actors and actresses that rely on visuals as part of doing their job. Luckily for top C-actress Yang Mi her most recent brush with an ouchie looked worse than it was. She was injured last week on the set of variety show Great Escape, reportedly an eye injury and required 6 hours in … Continue reading →
So, maybe I have high expectations (now) of Alchemy of Souls but this episode 11 really felt like filler. I know this narrative progression is needed, it’s the exposition, the training montage, the little steps forward so we can get the big leaps forward, but the drama has been such a whiz bang for the first 8 episodes its a … Continue reading →
I’ll start off by saying my heart goes out to Bea Hayden, pregnant with her second child and taking care of her first, and having to deal with this news. That aside, this is juicy stuff and Chinese speaking ent is currently all over it. This week a well known C-ent gossip account outed HK-star Jacky Heung as cheating on … Continue reading →
This totally seems like a drama vehicle geared towards promoting K-actor Kim Min Kyu and I have no problem with that. I do worry its on the lightweight side and perhaps he needs more serious heavier works to cement his acting skills before enlisting for the military. But then again, well done comedy is absolutely a showcase for acting and … Continue reading →
Okay, C-drama watching babes, like when did baby Liu Yu Ning become AN ACTOR? Like, I must’ve been under a rock because this is my Our Song fetus with the softest most delicate voice that totally captivated me way more than more well know star baby boy Xiao Zhan, classically trained brilliant Ayunga, and rocker Jiang Yi Qiao. But here … Continue reading →
Gosh, I have so many mixed emotions but the strongest one is 100% love for Yumi and Kim Go Eun’s portrayal and appreciation that this webtoon story was so beautifully adapted to live action in season 2 as it was in season 1. Changing male leads in Yumi’s Cells 2 didn’t change the satisfaction of watching Yumi evolve in both … Continue reading →
It’s been a wild summer drama season so far chingus! Prestige dramas like jTBC Insider hasn’t resonated, scandal tinged dramas like Eve didn’t garner the love or hate watch viewership it could have, wildly ambitious and looked like a hot mess pre-airing drama Alchemy of Souls is the surprise hit, and an unknown drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo from nowhere has … Continue reading →
Okay, the only other time in recent memory I have seen a drama with so little pre-premiere fan fare set ratings records was jTBC drama Sky Castle, which is credited for putting that cable network on the map as a true contender to tvN and also paving the way for rich people makjang that begat Penthouse the following year. This … Continue reading →
Oh what a lovely quartet main cast! Netflix K-drama Morning Comes to the Mental Ward kicked off filming this week in what will likely be a 2023 release. It’s adapted from novels written by a real life nurse at a psychiatric ward and is described as warm and touching. Park Bo Young will take on the role of the nurse … Continue reading →
I hope this drama gets a new name and STAT but otherwise it sounds right up my alley. K-ent is reporting that Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin will be coupling up for a MBC sageuk drama titled Lovers. Not to be confused by the late aughts modern drama of the same name, this drama tells of a Joseon era … Continue reading →
Well, this is either an attempt to slide a less than well-made C-drama under the radar or Youku ran out of marketing dollars midway through the year. This Wednesday the high profile xianxia C-drama Immortal Samara with Yang Zi and Cheng Yi premiered kinda out of nowhere with the first five episodes released on streaming. This drama isn’t Yang Zi’s … Continue reading →
So things are not exactly off to a glowing start for high profile K-movie Alienoid (Alien+Human Part 1), which held a media premiere last week on July 13th and got back mixed reviews. There were a lot of critics grumbling that the movie has too many characters and is rather disjointed, but the good reviews are that the movie is … Continue reading →
