Well this is either going to be epic or a hot mess, and I’m hoping for epic and think it will actually work out. Thirty years after the release of super popular and beloved shonen manga Yu Yu Hakusho, still readable today and stands the test of time, it’s finally getting a live action adaptation. Netflix will be producing the … Continue reading →
The contrast could not be greater between Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young in their upcoming drama Love by Law, versus each other in this drama and versus their characters in their previous drama that they first worked together on A Korean Odyssey (Hwayugi). She’s all grown up, with a good head on her shoulders as a capable lawyer, … Continue reading →
Well one of these two is looking mighty fine, but then again, I’m partial that her to begin with. The first stills are out of the two leads for the upcoming C-drama The Legend of Shen Li adapted from the novel Yu Feng Xing (Traveling with the Phoenix). Zhao Li Ying plays a female general and she looks kickass, love … Continue reading →
To dominate for as long as Dilraba Dlimarut has, a good 8 years if you ask me, is quite a feat especially for fickle C-ent. She’s been crowned the most beautiful Xinjiang region female entertainer year after year and it’s not even close for other equally beautiful but just a smidge less popular fellow Xinjiang born actresses Guli Nezha and … Continue reading →
I love this casting and also love this rising actress getting her big break. K-actress Ha Yoon Kyung is currently the second female lead in ENA drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo and her character is nuanced and complex and also super caring towards everyone’s fave whale-loving autistic lawyer Woo Young Woo. She’s now going to jump into a high profile next … Continue reading →
I feel like period C-dramas are once again leveling up, not just putting pretty faces on screen with flashy costumes and special effects, some recent dramas have delivered tightly directed visuals that play a big part in the overall production being so good. This year alone I’ve seen it in A Dream of Splendor and now with Love Like the … Continue reading →
The schizophrenic ratings swing from Saturday to Sunday airings of Alchemy of Souls was particularly jarring this week, with a new ratings low one night leading to a new ratings high the next night. Tonally this episode 12 was much better for me, tighter in narrative progression and actual stakes rather than one long Wook training montage. The best part … Continue reading →
Wedding bells are a-ringing! And wow in my mind she’s still so young but retired Olympic Gold Medalist figure skater Kim Yuna is already 31 years old (32 in Korean age) and this morning announced her upcoming marriage. She will be tying the knot with singer Ko Woo Rim of Forestella, a male vocal quartet. This official announcement came on … Continue reading →
It’s been a weird run with both SBS drama Why Her (Why Oh Soo Jae) and MBC drama Doctor Lawyer. Both are legal dramas though the latter dealt with medical malpractice specifically. It’s that there was A-list headlining but neither ended up delivering on the ratings or buzz. Why Her had the traction early on hitting 10.1% by episode 4 … Continue reading →
Facial injuries are especially no bueno for actors and actresses that rely on visuals as part of doing their job. Luckily for top C-actress Yang Mi her most recent brush with an ouchie looked worse than it was. She was injured last week on the set of variety show Great Escape, reportedly an eye injury and required 6 hours in … Continue reading →
So, maybe I have high expectations (now) of Alchemy of Souls but this episode 11 really felt like filler. I know this narrative progression is needed, it’s the exposition, the training montage, the little steps forward so we can get the big leaps forward, but the drama has been such a whiz bang for the first 8 episodes its a … Continue reading →
I’ll start off by saying my heart goes out to Bea Hayden, pregnant with her second child and taking care of her first, and having to deal with this news. That aside, this is juicy stuff and Chinese speaking ent is currently all over it. This week a well known C-ent gossip account outed HK-star Jacky Heung as cheating on … Continue reading →
This totally seems like a drama vehicle geared towards promoting K-actor Kim Min Kyu and I have no problem with that. I do worry its on the lightweight side and perhaps he needs more serious heavier works to cement his acting skills before enlisting for the military. But then again, well done comedy is absolutely a showcase for acting and … Continue reading →
