Oh now this is getting more fun, I love seeing genuine ratings competition and even better if there is wins to spread around. This Friday saw the second week of airing for new weekend dramas Why Her on SBS and MBC with Doctor Lawyer. Last week the two premiered close in ratings but the second episode saw a split with … Continue reading →
One of the lesser profile Netflix K-dramas scheduled for 2022 is actually close to premiere but may be overshadowed by the June release of the K-adaptation of Money Game. But it could also benefit from another surge in K-drama popularity if that drama is a success so it’ll be interesting to see the reception for Remarriage and Desires (Korean title … Continue reading →
For a revenge drama Again My Life was surprisingly fun to watch, probably because it used the second chance at life conceit so facilely that the male lead was always winning. But most revenge dramas tend to be more pain than pleasure or at least earning the pleasure in the very end and sometimes that’s just exhausting to watch. jTBC … Continue reading →
It’s about one week away from the premiere of tvN fantasy sageuk drama Alchemy of Souls (Korean title Returning Soul) and I remain as perplexed as ever what to expect. But if I dig into the Hong Sisters oeuvre this drama probably has a Hong Gil Dong vibe, start off all comedic and neato before transitioning midway to mega serious … Continue reading →
I think this is pretty cool and follows in the footsteps of other low key celebs and hopefully continues the trend of happy marriages. K-actress Han Ye Ri is a married woman now, with news breaking that she actually got married earlier this year in early 2022 with no publicity. Her husband is a non-celeb and the couple got their … Continue reading →
The Wed-Thurs offerings will be dark over on the cable networks for the next two months, now that jTBC has premiered Insider while tvN started Eve just last week. The only option for those looking for lighter fare will have to wait until next week when KBS finishes with Love All Play this Thursday and its followed by Jinxed at … Continue reading →
This feels like a Suzy cosplay drama, maybe a show to show her range and perhaps even challenge and push her outside her comfort zone. She’s headlining the upcoming Coupang Play streaming K-drama Anna where she’s a downtrodden poor girl who falls into a lie created life of a very rich woman. I would love to know how to transform … Continue reading →
I feel like this casting is ripe for winning the assemblage of leads with no track record of success in one drama but I do want the drama to be worth watching so I will just hope for the best. Casting is done for upcoming sageuk romance Joseon’s Ban on Marriage, adapted from the same name webtoon. Kim Young Dae … Continue reading →
This week continues the new drama premiere and Mon-Tues saw the arrival of Link: Eat, Love, Kill on tvN taking over the time slot left empty for 6 weeks after Military Prosecutor Doberman ended in end of April. That drama started with 5% range ratings and kept going up ending past 10% so it’s one of the tvN hits in … Continue reading →
I always thought Kim Soo Hyun rose to top stardom based on sheer onscreen charisma and undeniable acting ability. Because his visuals always looked like a good looking albeit very young man especially in You From Another Star when no one thought the pairing would work but it did. But it’s been ten years since and he’s now in his … Continue reading →
I’m totally down if these two want to make a drama together a decade and keep the streak going. K-ent is reporting that Jang Hyuk will be Jang Nara‘s leading man in her recently announced drama comeback in Family. If he confirms it will be their third go-around, the first being Successful Story of a Bright Girl in 2022 (two … Continue reading →
After Squid Game in December 2021 it felt like Netflix was on a hit train, with many more dramas getting tons of publicity and high viewer counts. There was My Name and Hellbound, but then Sea of Silence was underwhelming, but All of Us are Dead generated another hit. Since then it’s not had another breakout though A Business Proposal … Continue reading →
I think the heyday of Lee Seung Gi being the Nation’s Grandson is over and that’s a good thing because otherwise the K-netizen commentary on his dating life would have been even more vicious. Last year he went public with K-actress Lee Da In, quite a cute visual couple and both have been in K-ent a long time so likely … Continue reading →
