Episode 7 of Sisyphus: The Myth Continues Ratings Decline to 4.633% But Starts to Give More Exposition with a Side of Awkward Rom-com Crush

Some old movies and dramas, albeit dated, still hold up on rewatch. The original Terminator holds a near and dear place in my heart not for Ahhhhhnold but for it’s decisive execution of its story. In that time-travel story, the moment our male lead (swoony Kyle Reese) reaches mother of the future savior Sarah Connor and they escape from the … Continue reading →

Song Hye Kyo and Jang Ki Yong Do the Noona-Dongsaeng Romance in K-drama Now, We Are Breaking Up

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

The casting musical chairs went around multiple times for upcoming melo-romance Now, We Are Breaking Up and the leading lady ended up being the very first name offered the role. Song Hye Kyo will indeed be the female lead of the drama with the production reportedly heavily persuading her because she was the actress they envisioned for the character. Joining … Continue reading →

Kim Min Jae Confirmed for Rom-com Drama Dal Li and Gamja Tang with Park Kyu Young

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

This is a switch up but I’m totally good with it. K-actor Lee Jae Wook passed on rom-com K-drama Dal Li and Gamja Tang and now Kim Min Jae has been offered the role and has accepted. The female lead is Park Kyu Young still and the change in male lead gives me totally different vibes from the expected coupling … Continue reading →

Ga Jin Thwarts a Baddie Conspiracy and Gets Rewarded with a Royal Betrothal in Episode 8 of River Where the Moon Rises Getting 6.1%, 8.3% Ratings

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

It’s episode 8 of River Where the Moon Rises and it’s now clear that the whole male lead swap debacle is merely one of the many problems this drama cannot seem to catch a break with. The writing is simplistic and the directing has no crispness or tension, even with the clearly inserted Na In Woo as Ondal scenes close … Continue reading →

Sisyphus: The Myth Introduces Kim Byung Chul as the Big Bad Head of Sigma and Replaces Musical Director Starting with Episode 9

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

It’s kinda do-or-die week for jTBC Wed-Thurs drama Sisyphus: The Myth, heading into episodes 7-8 which would then wrap up the first half of its run. Last week’s ratings dropped but it has a chance to at least chalk up the messy and nonsensical sequences in the earlier episodes has worldbuilding pains and get its act together for the crucial … Continue reading →

Park Min Young and Song Kang to Star in jTBC Office Rom-com Drama Office Romance Cruel Story

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

This sounds like a derivation of jTBC office romance Sunbae, Please Don’t Put on that Lipstick (She Would Never Know) complete with office and noona-dongsaeng romance. I sure hope there are more stakes that Sunbae because that drama has like zero tension albeit lots of sweetness. Park Min Young and Song Kang are in talks for the leads of romance … Continue reading →

Episode 7 of River Where the Moon Rises Stays Constant with 6.7%, 8.7% Ratings While Adding a Very Schmoopy New Ondal

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

It’s a new dawn for KBS sageuk River Where the Moon Rises with this Monday’s episode 7 and other than the removal of one very toxic cast member everything else makes me want to yell “Go back, put it back the way it was!” Luckily the rating’s didn’t tank but stayed the same as last week, but the arrival of … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Oh lord, seeing this makes all my maternal instincts rise up and I just want to take care of Kim So Hyun. She was at the press conference this past weekend with Love Alarm 2 costar Song Kang, with the other male lead Jung Ga Ram appearing by video. She looks so tired, she looks like me after cramming for … Continue reading →

Episode 6 of Vincenzo Sets New High 11.082% Ratings as Joon Woo Reveals Himself to the Baddie Lawyers and Team Jipuragi Continue to Act Outside the Box

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

The opening sequence of episode 6 of Vincenzo was a balletic comedy set in a courtroom, orchestrated to perfection by Vincenzo with full support of Cha Young and the Plaza denizens. It’s going to need that and more to win against Joon Woo and his Wusang legal minions and the countless judges, lawyers, doctors, and reporters he has in is … Continue reading →

Na In Woo to Appear Immediately in Episode 7 of River Where the Moon Rises After Filming All Weekend

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Honestly this was a win-win proposition and perhaps the only losers are viewers hoping for a actor better at, well, acting. Na In Woo has stepped in for the disgraced Ji Soo as the male lead of River Where the Moon Rises to play the fake fool Ondal. He was supposed to show up starting in next week’s episode 9 … Continue reading →

Kim Jung Hyun Sheds His Kingly Robes for Euro Couture in Esquire Korea March 2021 Pictorial

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

It’s back to the modern era for K-actor Kim Jung Hyun, no longer King Cheoljeong in tvN sageuk Queen Cheorin despite looking exceptionally fine in either era. He’s on a fashion pictorial roll with this new Esquire Korea spread as well as one in Allure but I like this high fashion one more. It an alterna-universe dream where his character … Continue reading →

Classic Palace Romance K-drama Goong to Get Remake 15 Years After Original Catapulted Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon to Superstardom

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I react to remake or new adaptation news based on the circumstances of each, time between and whether I think the previous one really feels outdated and the source material rich enough to merit a fresh take so new generations can experience the enjoyment. That’s why I’m totally against the news that Goong (Palace or Princess Hours) is getting a … Continue reading →
