I’m glad that SBS is still holding its year end SBS Drama Awards and that its decided to forgo tradition that makes it like a year end party and do it social distanced in a time of increasing yet again COVID counts. The network will not have all the attendees sit in round tables below the stage and instead winners … Continue reading →
English speaking countries head to Rotten Tomatoes to check out how critics and audience viewers rate movies and shows but in China it’s all about Douban. It’s the most influential and mass aggregated site for viewers to rate shows and is actually quite objective as the volume of votes drowns out crazed fans and antis trying to affect ratings. For … Continue reading →
I follow entertainment news and even this one caught me off guard yesterday because I thought these two were divorced already! Top C-actress Zhou Xun and Asian-American actor Archie Kao went public yesterday and confirmed they are divorced. This came on the heels of a woman posting a picture of her and Archie kissing and tagging his SNS with a … Continue reading →
The 2021 First Brand Awards, celebrating the 19th year of giving out prizes for consumer faves, will forgo a ceremony this year but still announced the winners of the various category daesang prizes. The Actress Award goes to Suzy while Lee Dong Wook was selected for the Actor Award, a funny coincidence to have the former exes in the same … Continue reading →
My Mon-Tues found an unassuming gem that is MBC drama Kairos and my appreciation for its magnificence really hits home today knowing that it’s over. This is less missing a drama I loved for more emotional reasons and more missing a great story, a consummate storyteller, knowing that I won’t have another installment next week. The low ratings don’t bother … Continue reading →
Wow wee, what a great pre-Christmas surprise! jTBC stealth mode dropped the first teaser for its early 2021 thriller K-drama Sisyphus: The Myth and I say stealth because there hasn’t been a single still released so far. Starring Jo Seung Woo and Park Shin Hye, it’s yet another time travel or time related drama where she’s the kickass warrior from … Continue reading →
I’m not sure if both stars will confirm but it’s definitely a promising pairing. K-ent is reporting that Shin Mina and Kim Sun Ho are together being courted for the K-drama remake of the rom-com movie Mr. Hong. Both are also in talks with separate other dramas, Shin Mina for I’m a Nurse, But a Human Too, and Kim Sun … Continue reading →
With a movie titled The Witch Part 1: The Subversion, it’s already primed for a sequel so thankfully the movie was good and a sequel is coming. The Witch herself Kim Da Mi has seen her career since the first movie hit a new high this year with Itaewon Class so this movie now seems like an even bigger sure … Continue reading →
I have recommended plenty of K-dramas that started off well and fell apart, and sometimes so horribly it’s like falling off a cliff, getting revived only to be smashed to pieces again. It’s just the worst because you invest so much so the disappointment is magnified. This year’s most underrated drama is likely going to be MBC Mon-Tues thriller Kairos, … Continue reading →
This year’s big breakout male lead Lee Do Hyun had to share the limelight with veterans Kim Ha Neul and Yoon Sang Hyun, and hopefully he learned lots from them on top of his own excellent performance in 18 Again because he’s getting the solo top billing next year. Lee Do Hyun is confirmed for the summer 2021 KBS drama … Continue reading →
I’ll consider this one-two live action adaptation gift as a present for those celebrating Hanukkah and one for those celebrating Christmas. I was primed for the Netflix premiere of the live action drama adaptation of Korean webtoon Sweet Home that I totally missed a week earlier Netflix dropped the live action adaptation of Japanese manga Alice in Borderland. Kyaaaaaaa, and … Continue reading →
Sat-Sun K-drama Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen) has settled into its rhythm and is exactly what South Korean viewers are looking for, with each episode ratings increasing and the most recent episode 4 breaking double digits with 10.447%. It’s feels like deja vu as tvN‘s last major hit in this same time slot Crash Landing on You premiered a year ago … Continue reading →

Song Kang plays depressed and suicidal high school student Hyun who moves into grungy apartment complex Green Home and and soon after the world turns apocalyptic as some people start to turn … Continue reading →
