I’m still ambivalent about Suzy‘s win two weeks ago at the SBS 2018 Drama Awards for top actress and best couple with Lee Jong Seok for While You Were Sleeping. She was aptly humble in receiving the awards and I did think her performance was much better than I expected and hoped for. It didn’t help that her character was … Continue reading →
I actually think it’s a good time to do another adaption of the popular shoujo manga Hana Yori Dango (Boys Before Flowers), but I wonder if the upcoming Meteor Garden 2018 will go to the source material in adapting or remake the first time Taiwan dramas made the story into Meteor Garden in 2000. It makes a difference as remaking a … Continue reading →
All eyes are now on the Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food as the drama landed a very titular pretty noona indeed. Predominately movie actress Son Ye Jin is making one of her infrequent sojourns back to drama land as the female lead for the upcoming jTBC drama with the quirky title of Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food. The … Continue reading →
I wonder if looking perplexingly unattractive comes hand-in-hand with being a promotional ambassador for the upcoming 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic starting next month. How else to explain first Jang Geun Seok and now Lee Dong Wook all looking fairly worse for wear while doing a promo event. The waxy white visage and bad hairstyle have afflicted both actors, and made … Continue reading →
This could either be the breakout of a new acting star, think Yoon Kyun Sang in Pinocchio, or the underwhelming big debut of a new acting star like Yang Se Jong in Temperature of Love. Cable network jTBC has cast rising actor Ahn Hyo Seob opposite Kim Yoo Jung in its upcoming K-drama adaptation of webtoon Clean with Passion for … Continue reading →
Even as prime time K-drama ratings have take a one-way plunge for the last five years, weekend drama have remained steady in viewership and still able to deliver ratings into the 30s and even 40s on occasion. That’s why it’s no demotion to do a weekend drama, and for K-actress Lee Min Jung it just may be the jet boost … Continue reading →
While video definitely killed the radio star, it’s unclear yet if Youtibe will kill the television star. With that said, it’s nice to see a K-drama focus on an older form of entertainment medium that is radio, with plenty of people still tuning in daily to keep abreast of the news or keep company with the chatter. Upcoming KBS Mon-Tues … Continue reading →
The brief entertainment career of aspiring K-actress Jang Ja Yeon remains an instantly recognizable name for K-drama fans who were active in the late 2000s om Hallyu entertainment. She had a bit part in the 2009 hit K-drama Boys Before Flowers but only became (in)famous when she committed suicide later that year leaving behind a devastating suicide note and accompanying … Continue reading →
I’ve got some solid casting news in the K-drama front looking out into early Spring. tvN has confirmed the casting of Lee Sang Yoon as the male lead in romance K-drama About Time opposite earlier confirmed female lead Lee Sung Kyung. It’s a fantasy tinged drama about a girl who can see the mortality clock of others and the man … Continue reading →
The second week of January in this new year 2018 brings K-actress Park Shin Hye to the airport leaving Korea in a wintry flair. Her outfit is dominated by the over sized long wool or cashmere coat in perfect creamy winter white and is instant covet for me. It looks so comfortable and fashionable, and looks great on her even … Continue reading →
I’m pretty lenient when it comes cameo appearances in dramas, it’s solely service and as long as it’s not a jarring schism in the narrative then it’s fine to do. The Hong Sisters are well known for their cameos in their dramas mostly from prior stars who have done their dramas in the past. Jang Geun Seok has done two … Continue reading →
K-actor Park Seo Joon may be trying out something different in 2018, he has been offered the leading man role in SBS drama What Happened to Secretary Kim. Park Seo Joon is a known workaholic and last year did two dramas with Hwarang and Fight My Way. Both were KBS dramas and he’s also worked often with MBC, but with … Continue reading →
Welp, clearly someone is having a worse start to 2018 than me and boy do I hope things get resolved quickly for the star in question. TW-actress Chen Qiao En was arrested for drunk driving in Taipei on the wee morning hours of January 4th, spotted by cops for running a red light. She blew 0.67 on a breathalyzer which … Continue reading →
