Talk about starting 2018 off with major K-drama buzz! Lee Dong Wook must like the dual leading man route because after teaming up with Gong Yoo in the hit Goblin he’s going to pair up with Jo Seung Woo next in drama land. Lee Dong Wook and Jo Seung Woo are confirmed as the male leads for the upcoming jTBC … Continue reading →
The first K-ent baby of 2018 is here and gotta give it to actress Lee Shi Young for being ahead of the curve and leader of the pack. She had the most incredibly active pregnancy as befitting a star who was also active with even an amateur boxing career on the side. Her baby with non-celebrity husband arrived over the … Continue reading →

For all the mixed press tvN Sat-Sun drama Hwayugi is getting, its brethren Wise Prison Life (Prison Playbook) is only getting rave feedback in every way on Wed-Thurs night time slot. It took a Christmas week hiatus from airing and then returned stronger than ever, with this week’s new episodes rocking up another 2% in ratings while the prime time … Continue reading →
Leave it to Han Ga In to make me actually miss seeing her onscreen, even knowing full well she likely hasn’t improved in acting much lol. It’s been six years since her last acting project with the MBC mega hit sageuk The Moon Embraces the Sun, which is a good enough project to rest her laurels on for a few … Continue reading →
Cable network tvN aired episodes 3 and 4 of its fantasy drama Hwayugi (A Korean Odyssey) this weekend after two weeks off and the drama picked up right where it left off on Christmas Eve’s episode 2. Ratings for Episode 3 matched episode 2 of 5.6% and went up to just breaking 6.0% for episode 4. It’s not a surprise … Continue reading →
Manner legs, or when a super tall entertainer stands in an open-legged stance to lower himself, is such a unique Korean thing. I don’t recall seeing tall stars in other entertainment industries doing the pose to adjust for height differentials in scenes or allow the make up artist to freshen things up on the set. I suppose the other industries … Continue reading →
Wax figures at Madame Tussauds isn’t the only way for stars to have their own dopplegangers, ever since the advent of cinema there have been body and face doubles during filming. I’m not sure if there’s as lucrative a business as being a famous person lookalike in China, i.e. earning money to attend parties and whatnot, but there’s certainly something … Continue reading →
Funky fashion done right always gets my interest, and C-actress Guli Nazha simply has the born beauty to pull off interesting looks. Her style veers towards the very feminine which goes well with her lithe frame and incredibly unique facial features from China’s minority Uyghur ethnicity. I still think she looks best in period costume, almost born to wear the flowing … Continue reading →
A sure sign of time’s relentless passing is when one is forced to examine memories of the past with the reality of the present. In the 2015 issue of GQ Taiwan, the magazine featured one of the most critically acclaimed Taiwanese heartthrob movie actors of the last decade, in a pictorial and interview and addresses his aging head on. The spread is … Continue reading →
C-actress Liu Shi Shi was recently seen at a Tod’s event in Hong Kong with a terrible hairstyle and outfit but now she’s done a 180 and turned out resplendent for Omega Constellation show. She pulled her growing out hair back into a sleek side part low bun that shows off her enviable cheekbones with simple makeup and statement red … Continue reading →
It’s such a shame that my first acting experience watching rising young actor Yang Se Jong was in the SBS drama Temperature of Love. I’m going to blame screenwriter Ha Myung Hee for tainting my impression of him negatively, when by all accounts for those who watched him earlier in the cable drama Duel he did an incredible and credible … Continue reading →
The blending of East and West styles is beautifully demonstrated with yet another winning fashion confection from a Chinese actress. Crystal Liu recently unveiled a lovely dress for a pictorial, a flared silhouette with a boat neck top and cap sleeves in a high low hem, in a soft yellow-ish color used as the background for brush painted leaves pattern. … Continue reading →
