This is so disconcerting to see visual proof that the casting of upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Hwarang may indeed be wholly unsuitable for the sageuk setting and a potential slam dunk if moved to the modern times. The drama premieres next week and will be a chance for the network to replace super low rated The Man Living in Our … Continue reading →
All hail the power of screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, in 2016 alone she’s set new drama achievements and is even the one to break her own record. The latest one to fall is held by her own Descendants of the Sun, and the new record holder is her own Goblin, talk about pitting two siblings against one another. But if she’s … Continue reading →
Even if screenwriter Park Ji Eun is basically copying the entire narrative structure of her own hit You From Another Star, last week’s episode 8 of Legend of the Blue Sea ended with the possibility of a breakthrough. There have been too many near misses where Joon Jae finds out Shim Chung is a mermaid so I’m all ready for … Continue reading →
Cable network tvN is going to end the 2016 year off right now that it’s airing mega hit drama Goblin on Fri-Sat. Hopefully the good quality will continue into 2017 as the drama to take over the same time slot will be Lee Je Hoon and Shin Mina‘s Tomorrow With You. Billed as a time-traveling romance, the only analog for … Continue reading →
K-ent tabloids get tons of flack for running covert ops dating and scandal stories but over in Japan it’s just as bad if not worse. Last week was particularly bad as J-ent lost a talented actor after one very egregious invasion of privacy hack job by tabloid magazine Friday. The magazine ran a story alleging that actor Narimiya Hiroki used … Continue reading →
Castaways are on deck for MBC‘s entertainment folks stranded on an island drama Missing 9. Starring Jung Kyung Ho and Baek Jin Hee, he’s the former popular idol singer turned reporter and she’s his stylist, that’s an interesting dynamic since it’s usually star and manager type set up. I can’t believe the year end drama awards are right around the corner, I’m still enjoying the final offerings of this year rather than in previous years when I couldn’t wait for the next year dramas to arrive. Each network holds their own drama awards show with slightly different tweaks. SBS released its list of Best Couple nominees this weekend, … Continue reading →

I’m legit relieved that the drama stills from the upcoming television adaptation of fantasy romance novel Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms looks genuinely pretty without veering into gaudy territory. The drama has finished filming with a schedule early 2017 air date which will come soon enough seeing as how time is whizzing by. Leads Yang Mi and … Continue reading →
Perhaps the saddest entertainment world news story of 2016 was the suicide of Chinese singer-actor Kimi Qiao at the age of 27. It was completely shocking because of his sunshine boy persona in public and hard working reputation as someone who loved what he was doing. Turns out Kimi suffered from depression which was exacerbated in recent years by cruel … Continue reading →
The arrival of Shilla flower boys is a little less than two weeks ago and I don’t know if KBS is relieved that the very low rated The Man Living in Our House is ending or worried that it’s sunk cost pre-filmed sageuk Hwarang is still going to have to go up against the tail end of the big Mon-Tues … Continue reading →
