I’m having a hard time imagining that the costume designers for upcoming KBS sageuk Hwarang all agreed that it was a great idea to buy the wigs used for the male leads. It was with that or everyone is blind on that team because I still can’t get over how collectively hideous the locks are. I mean, Park Hyung Sik … Continue reading →
Being a drama aficionado is akin to trying to find the best fast food restaurant. The reviews are rarely worth the time spent to write it but the satisfying immediate fill the medium offers is nothing to scoff at. With that said, the high brow sibling that is movie making certainly deserves the heightened acclaim and with it the elevated … Continue reading →
This past weekend saw the wrap up of thriller tvN drama The K2, ending on a happy note for leads Ji Chang Wook and Yoona as they got to escape the political plotting and crazy around them. This drama was a return to form for PD Kwak Jung Hwan, a success in ratings airing on cable, and proves that Ji … Continue reading →
It’s T-minus one day before the arrival of high profile and highly anticipated fantasy K-drama Legend of the Blue Sea. Unless one has been living in a cave the last few months it’s no surprise that You From Another Star and Producer screenwriter Park Ji Eun has brought together top Hallyu stars Jeon Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho to … Continue reading →
It’s going to awhile before I get bored with the visual of Gong Yoo in his best Korean Aragorn Lord of the Rings impression in the unexpected flashback previews from Goblin. The combination of Gong Yoo having never done a sageuk role whether drama or movie, along with how smexy he looks doing it now, creates the explosive force of catnip … Continue reading →
There hasn’t been a single promo mishap for Legend of the Blue Sea yet, not that I’m rooting for it to stumble but all this continuous pretty does worry me that expectations are not sky high. The silver lining is that the drama is premiering this Wednesday November 16th so whatever is coming is right around the corner. The official … Continue reading →
Color me not surprised with the casting for screenwriter Park Hye Ryun‘s upcoming fantasy K-drama set for early 2017. Hallyu actor Lee Jong Seok and idol-actress Suzy have been offered the leads for While You Were Sleeping and both are positively considering it. Lee Jong Seok has worked with Park Hye Ryun twice already, headlining her dramas Pinoccho and I … Continue reading →
There’s a new Korean movie coming out that may be the lighthearted family tale that folks need to take a break from the real world heaviness. On cast alone this one is triple packed with popularity as all three leads are much loved for recent works. Hyung (Brother) stars Jo Jung Seok and DO (Do Kyung Soo) as estranged brothers forced … Continue reading →
I’m still so traumatized by K-Bu Bu Jing Xin that it was the first thing I make the connection with when I saw the latest ethereally beautiful family portrait movie stills from upcoming fantasy Chinese film adaptation of Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossom. It’s called Once Upon a Time and tells the tortured romance spanning three … Continue reading →
Some grieving processes take longer than expected, I thought I was all over and done with Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, all lame double title and zero satisfaction of it all. Then I hung out with drama friends last night and it all comes back, proving that ignoring it’s existence is no way to fully move on. I decided one … Continue reading →
Chinese romance novelist Tong Hua, most famous for authoring Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Every Step), has penned many of my favorite period romance novels. But her moderns novels have been mostly miss with me, and the few that work aren’t epic or memorable much. One of her recent novels was The Starry Night The Starry Sea centering on … Continue reading →
I thought screenwriter Kim Eun Sook was taking on a lot with her expansive medical disaster zone romance drama Descendants of the Sun, now it looks like she was just warming up for larger scale set pieces in upcoming fantasy drama Goblin. The stills and teasers so far have been melancholy and contemplative for the most part, whatever character or … Continue reading →
The first teaser is out for upcoming MBC melodrama Night Light (Illumination) and it’s intense and riveting. The background music is excellently selected and the snippets of scenes shown whet the appetite to see more. Coupled with the new stills of female leads Lee Yo Won and UEE giving each other the fierce yeoja stare down, I’m way more interested … Continue reading →
