It’s worth a reminder that upcoming K-drama Beautiful Mind had a long and arduous journey to becoming a reality, because I’m loving all the promos so far but don’t want to be too optimistic and discount the early warning signs. This drama was formerly Dr. Frankenstein, the multiple personality drama that courted Kim Soo Hyun in late 2016 and last … Continue reading →
My baby boy Yoo Seung Ho continues having a smashing acting career, after last year’s one-two punch of the SBS drama Remember: Son’s War and the sageuk movie The Joseon Magician, he’s back in the spotlight for another potential one-two punch. Up first is his Joseon comedy heist movie Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River, by title alone already … Continue reading →
Guh, I soooooo can’t wait for upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama W: Two Worlds, completely and utterly due to my love for leading man Lee Jong Seok. He’s not the best actor, or the best looking, but for that ephemeral indescribable element he’s just won my heart and I love everything he’s done. The first official stills are out for W … Continue reading →
Oh what a healthy diet and a perfectly suitable summer haircut can do for elevating even already top visuals. K-actor Kim Rae Won was last seen on SBS in the dark critically acclaimed drama Punch looking like he literally got punched in the soul by life, all wan, emaciated, and battered. It wasn’t as extreme as Christian Bale in Machinest … Continue reading →
K-ent is calling it the battle of the doctors for Mon-Tues night ratings supremacy but the substance and tone are so different I can’t see it appealing to the same group of viewers. SBS premieres Doctors on June 20th after Daebak (Jackpot) while on the same day KBS brings out Beautiful Mind to take over for Neighborhood Hero Jo Deul Ho. I’m … Continue reading →
Even the pretty and successful can get side swiped by the run away fashion fail, and this one is especially hideous without even the so crazy it’s fun corollary. K-actor Park Hae Jin is in Taiwan this week for his upcoming sold out fan meeting, having surged in popularity in Chinese-speaking regions in recent years thanks to You From Another … Continue reading →
It’s a happy 32nd birthday last weekend of Taiwanese actress-singer Rainie Yang, on June 4th she celebrated her joyous day with a low key cake celebration at home. She posted adorable pictures of her showing off a delectable chocolate cake and later posed with her precious pooch as her birthday companion. I can’t believe Rainie is already 32 when I … Continue reading →
My excitement keeps building for Uncontrollably Fond, the drama that is taking way to longer to arrive and will need to wait for more servings of Master: God of Noodles to wrap up. So far the teasers and stills have varied greatly in setting and tone, from bickering college days to intense emo adult tension, and now the third teaser … Continue reading →
Nine years is a long time particularly in drama land when merely a few years can date a drama in both story content and visuals. With that said, newbies to K-dramas are still able to slurp up the 2007 now classic Coffee Prince, a huge hit when it aired and still the favorite of many drama fans the world over. It cemented … Continue reading →
What’s old is new again as remakes continue to get churned out by the drama industry, and in this case it’s got a very important original element back. MBC has scooped up the K-drama refresh/remake of early Hallyu drama 1% of Anything which aired in 2003 and is most notable for starring then rising actor Kang Dong Won who grew … Continue reading →
Park Shin Hye can’t quite leave high school behind yet, at least not onscreen when it comes to her drama roles. For her last few dramas she’s had a high school flashback section and/or actually played a high school student, even though being in her mid-20s she is now ready for adult roles all the time. Context is important and … Continue reading →
The forehead hair up or down post from last week seems prescient when looking at the first pictures of Taecyeon filming for upcoming tvN drama Let’s Fight Ghost. At the script reading his hair was black and gelled back like a small pompadour and made him look even older than his real age, a huge visual concern when placed next … Continue reading →
A cat and mouse game will soon be underway on SBS Wed-Thurs, with thriller drama Wanted taking over the time slot in two weeks from the soon to end Entertainer. Starring Kim Ah Joong, Uhm Tae Woong, and Ji Hyun Woo, it’s looking like a cousin to the tone and set up of God’s Gift: 14 Days, returning SBS to … Continue reading →
