Upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Yongpal (Yongpalyi) is certainly going for style in all the promos so far. Whether it’ll end up being style over substance is yet to be seen but it certainly doesn’t hurt the drama to ramp up the visual aesthetics from the outset. Currently airing SBS melodrama Mask continues the ratings winnings streak for the network on … Continue reading →
If this casting discussion ends up confirmed on both sides then it’ll be the biggest drama casting surprise news for me in 2015 so far. And with the drama year basically mapped out until year end, likely nothing will come along to top this doozy of a potential drama pairing. Just as I wrote about Kang Ji Hwan skipping out on … Continue reading →
If I didn’t love Bu Bu Jing Xin so much, the novel and the C-drama adaptation, I might be tempted to call it quits with the upcoming alterna-universe C-movie version Time to Love which is coming out in a few weeks. I don’t mind the streamlined take on the source novel, reducing the time-traveling heroine love triangle to just Ruo … Continue reading →
There’s a cool and cute little Taiwanese movie to look forward to next month come August as Our Times (Chinese title 我的少女時代 Era of My Girl Teens) opens with tons of great buzz. The movie is produced by famed Taiwanese drama producer Chen Yu Shan, who is a household name thanks to producing hit dramas like Autumn’s Concerto, King of Lan … Continue reading →
It’s been a long time since I saw Kang Ji Hwan on the small screen, with his last K-drama being Big Man in early 2014. The drama was a misfire for me in every way other than his fantastic chemistry and character interactions with second female lead Jung So Min. It’ll be awhile longer to see him back in drama … Continue reading →
What’s cute even dressed in all green and it’s not even Saint Patrick’s Day as an excuse? Lego Lee, of course! He’s one of the cutest TW-actors ever, with none of the bad boy aura and appeal yet when he acts there is plenty of manly charm hidden in the depths of those eyes. I keep wondering when he’ll come … Continue reading →
I so wanted to fist bump and roar my approval after watching the just released new US-version trailer for the soon-to-be-released live-action movie adaptation of hit shonen manga Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). Too bad there was no one right next to me to squee with but hopefully this latest and most comprehensive look at the first movie coming out … Continue reading →
The casting train is moving fast for in development cable drama Cheese in the Trap. Not letting a high profile pass from idol-actress Suzy deter the production, the media is reporting that movie actress Kim Go Eun is now in talks for the leading lady role. K-drama fans may find Kim Go Eun’s name and face completely unfamiliar and it’s … Continue reading →
I thought it unlikely to see any filming sneak peeks at upcoming KBS drama Descendants of the Sun since the majority of the drama will be filmed overseas. Looks like the Korea portion is being filmed right now and the media was allowed to cover one particular scene shoot involving a very recognizable face making a cameo. Kwang Soo, well-known … Continue reading →
First there was Oh My Ghost this summer, now get ready for Oh My God coming this fall. A big drama casting news broke yesterday in a double serving of awesome – So Ji Sub and Shin Mina are confirmed as the leads for upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Oh My God. This comes on the heel of another upcoming KBS … Continue reading →
This is one of the smaller film festivals in Korea but the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) actually celebrated it’s 19th year holding the event this week. Not bad for a film festival held in one of the smaller cities in South Korea and with a smaller niche of fantasy movies such as supernatural, horror, and mystery. BiFan still … Continue reading →
Leave it to upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Yongpal (Korean title Yongpalyi) to jolt me awake. I don’t necessarily like the first teaser (still mulling it over), but it’s definitely dramatic and memorable, though KBS revenge thriller Shark did something very similar which takes points off Yongpal for originality. Currently airing doppleganger melodrama Mask remains the ratings leader in the time … Continue reading →
I got flashbacks to one aspect of Dr. Stranger with today’s episode of Scholar Who Walks the Night, with the arrival of Myung Hee’s doppleganger turning this into another potential girl 1 or girl 2 camp fight. I pray to the drama gods that the love lines solidify and shake out as quickly as possible because the preferences of who … Continue reading →
