Famed K-actress Lee Young Ae made a double news splash this week in her usual low key but undeniably classy way. First came news that filming is about to start on her upcoming fully pre-filmed K-drama Saimdang, the Herstory. With this news came two production created posters featuring Lee Young Ae in her costume hanbok playing the titular role of … Continue reading →
Scholar Who Walks the Night continues everything that worked for me in the first two episodes, as well as the stuff that didn’t quite hit the spot. At least the drama is nothing if not consistent, and quite persistent as well when it comes to all the leads setting their minds (and fangs) on a set goal. Sung Yul’s entire … Continue reading →
Fun K-drama casting rumors, more legit than random fan daydreams of “I want so-and-so to star in this drama”, are making the rounds to shake up this Wednesday hump day. DC is abuzz with two separate juicy casting reveals by a poster who has a great track record of casting spoilers that later turn out to be true. Even then, … Continue reading →
It’s another Monday and another edition of Koala eats her words. This particular opinion set is for rising actress Lim Ji Yeon, who was an unknown a year ago before she landed the leading lady role in the erotic movie Obsessed opposite Song Seung Heon. She’s since followed up with a leading lady role in yet another erotic movie, this … Continue reading →
It doesn’t look like recently premiered MBC drama Scholar Who Walks the Night has the draw to become a buzzy hit either domestically or with online audiences, aside from those who like any of the leads in the cast or are in the mood for some potentially cheesy yet tasty star-crossed vampire romance. I’m both, plus a fan of the original … Continue reading →
I loved Kill Me Heal Me to pieces so this news has me bracing for the worst even as I’m deathly curious about the outcome. KMHM was one of the buzziest K-dramas of 2015, ratings middling like all the dramas these days but generating tons of buzz and trends along with awards nominations. The drama aired on MBC but was … Continue reading →
It’s looking more and more unlikely that Shin Mina will be returning to the small screen this year. She’s been signed on for SBS drama Will You Have Dinner with Me (Let’s Have Dinner Together) since May but the drama was bumped from the network’s summer schedule for upcoming darker melo Yongpalyi with Joo Won and Kim Tae Hee. That’s a … Continue reading →
The steady cross-over of Korean actors and actresses into Chinese acting projects, whether dramas or movies, continues unabated and might now even include certain folks audiences might be happy to see migrate to China. Filming is starting on a new Korean-Chinese joint production web drama called Great One-sided Love (高品格單戀), produced by an experienced Korean PD while Chinese web portal … Continue reading →
I would feel sorry for EXO fans, except the fans may be feeling so numb from the relentless departure pains that no one can feel a thing anymore. The long drawn out withdrawal of Chinese member Tao (Huang Zi Tao) from the boy band appears to have come to a definitive conclusion over the weekend as Tao’s recently established workshop … Continue reading →
Shin Se Kyung is striking while the iron is hot and who can blame her. Up next is long sageuk Six Dragons Flying, but before then she took a fun work trip to Southeast Asia after wrapping The Girl Who Sees Smells. While The Girl Who Sees Smells fell into the same single digit ratings malaise that is industry wide … Continue reading →
I noticed there’s quite a lot of Suzy posts happening recently around there, but then again there is a lot of Suzy happening going on in K-ent so one begets the other I suppose. All I can say is Suzy haters to the left please, or at least refrain from the solo “I hate Suzy” comments and add more substantive … Continue reading →
Summer is actually when the tricklings of the all important fall fashion season starts to make an appearance. In periodicals and advertising, the switch is on to showcase the biggest trends to come once the weather cools down and people start putting on more clothes and want to try things out. Park Seo Joon was in Milan last month shooting … Continue reading →
Multi-talented cutie pie Lee Seung Gi had a music comeback last month in June, dropping his 6th full length album to the public at the start of the summer music crush. I haven’t gone through the whole album yet since I’m a Seung Gi acting fan while finding his music easy listening but not something I’m intensely attached to. I’m still … Continue reading →
