Person in yellow speaking in a presentation setting.

I don’t blog about current events just to keep the blog thematically coherent rather than a mish-mash of whatever strikes my fancy. When I do write about real world stuff happening then I tie it into entertainment even if it may be a stretch. This past weekend Taiwan was hit with a devastating tragedy at a water park: during an … Continue reading →

MBC released tons of new Scholar Who Walks the Night drama stills this past weekend so continue to feast your eyes on the pretty, and boy is there an unending stream of pretty. I’ll be candidly honest with my approach and expectation towards this upcoming vampire sageuk – it’ll likely be pulpy bad but I think I’ll still like it. The idea of … Continue reading →

The curious case of model-actor Nam Joo Hyuk in his first leading man stint in just finished drama Who Are You: School 2015 is sure to incite heated debates. Four characters posing for a drama poster.

Even if highly anticipated KBS variety drama Producer wasn’t the blockbuster hit it was aiming for, the end result was still a qualified success in the current ratings landscape. I didn’t write about the drama despite watching it completely and liking it very much. It just didn’t hook me to the degree I felt the urge the pontificate over it. … Continue reading →

Four individuals posing with colorful umbrellas.

I really wanted to love MBC‘s big tentpole prime time drama of 2015 that is Splendid Politics (Hwajung), but alas that did no happen. It has a fantastic cast and all the promotional push to bring back the glory of the great long sageuk dramas of yore but ended up boring me to bits most of the time, with not … Continue reading →

Posted on June 28, 2015 by ockoalaJune 28, 2015

I’m keeping my expectations at rock bottom for upcoming Fuji TV Monday night (Getsu9) dorama Koinaka. The title translates as love relationship and portends a complicated romance tinged with summer whimsy and melancholy. This dorama got press for picking rising hot commodity young actor Fukushi Sota as the male lead, and one could say he basically got his big platform … Continue reading →

Woman in traditional attire with dramatic backdrop.

I’ve seen so many disappointing C-dramas to expect much from upcoming period drama Braveness of the Ming. I’m only following along with the filming since it’s K-actress Park Min Young‘s first C-drama and she looks so unexpectedly fantastic in this role it keeps me curious to see more. All I’ve seen are official and BTS stills of Park Min Young … Continue reading →
